This is the second episode that follows up on Jenna and Blake. This time, some proper exposition is given, but by now nobody cares.

The Vila/Cally subplot is more interesting, and - indeed - is very creepy when all is revealed.

Servalan's rescue from (it's not planet Sarren, the ship lands in a desolate gray mountainous region, not grazing flatlands and a beach where Servalan was last seen) ensures she survives, but one has to admit that it's fun to see her ego deflated by her rescuers, only to turn the tables at the end.

On the commandeered Liberator, Dayna and Avon have to get their ship back... with one of the Federation troopers being a traitor... it's a stock action/mystery piece, but is highly enjoyable. Terry Nation made pulp and camp into something more than the sum of their parts.moreless
  • Each character gets a decent story line.

    9.0
Effortlessly the show continues the story following the destruction of Star One. Blake's disappearance is referred to, but hardly matters. Quite remarkable considering that he was the main protagonist (and the title character). What interests the viewer is how the different crew members of Liberator can get back to their ship. Avon and Dayna have to outsmart some Federation soldiers on the ship. (Die Hard on the Liberator!) Cally recuperates from her wounds and bumps into that mistress of survival, Servalan. Vila meets some nice natives and some not-so-nice nurses.

No complicated themes (let down by bad special effects), just suspense and action. Bad guys who turn out to be okay, good guys you can't trust.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Mistake: Tarrant punches Avon in the face. Yet later, Avon is rubbing the back of his head and refers to Tarrant hitting him "over the back of the head."

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Avon: {To Dayna} Anybody comes through this door, kill them. Anybody that isn't me, that is.

    • Dayna: Avon, why do you keep everything to yourself? Why so secretive.
      Avon: Perhaps I'm shy.

    • Avon: That one is Cally. I'll introduce her more formally when she wakes up. This one is Vila. I should really introduce him now, he's at his best when he's unconscious.

    • Tarrant: I've been on the Federation wanted list for quite a while. I had my own ship. I was running contraband, getting myself mixed up in other people's wars - you know the sort of thing. Naturally, I heard something of what Blake and the rest of you were doing.
Avon: We tried not to keep it a secret.

    • Dayna: There were only two. I should have been able to kill them both.
Avon: We all have our off days.

    • Avon: (to Tarrant and Dayna) Welcome to the Liberator.
Vila: And you are, welcome to it.
Cally: Oh, given the choice would you rather be a load of spare parts down there?
Avon: Or one spare part up here?
