    • TRIVIA (2)

      • In 2013, the BBC has revisited the P.G. Wodehouse stories for a new version, simply entitled "Blandings". This new show, starring Timothy Spall as Lord Emsworth and Jennifer Saunders as Lady Constance, has been roundly attacked by admirers of P.G. Wodehouse for the extreme infidelity of the adaptations to their originals, for the gross vulgarising of the humour, for its failures of period detail and for its extreme miscasting - which extends to casting a white sow as the Empress of Blandings, who was black in the stories.

      • This was the last of the "Blandings Castle" series, which was short-lived perhaps because of the paucity of "Blandings" short stories by P.G. Wodehouse, who mostly used the setting and characters for novels. In 1995, there was a BBC-TV movie based on one of the full-length Blandings novels, "Heavy Weather", with Peter O'Toole as Lord Emsworth.
