  • This is one of the first episodes where we get a really good look at Chad...

    Season One, episode 12, entitled Chad's Right Arm - named after the armored right arm Chad gets at the end of the episode - gives the first real look, IMHO, and background/history on Chad. His full name is Yasutora Sado. He's nicknaed Chad because (I think) part of his name sounds like 'Chad' in Japanese. At least that's what I read somewhere.

    Anyway, this episode is still reeling from the after effects of the Quincy's stupid macho contest with Ichigo, where the Quincy lures Hollows - but his bait draws waaay too many Hollows. The Quincy's name is Uryū Ishida; a Quincy is a priest-like hollow hunters.

    We also get some more info on why the Quincy hates Soul Reapers; we'll be getting much more information on Quincy's in later episodes.


    I enjoyed this episode, but I thought there was a bit too much of simply hack-and-slash, and not enough concrete dialog. It was well shot, and the background info we get on Chad is enough to wet our appetite for more Chad in later episodes. I enjoyes the flashbacks of Chad's childhood between him and his wisdom-laden grandfather.

    Funny stuff between Chad and Ichigo's loud and cynical sister, Karin Kurosaki; a twin sister of Ichigo's other sister - Yuzu Kurosaki. For me, those scenes between Chad and Karin are the highlight of this episode. The hollow in the playground that is chasing ans fighting Chad and Karin is pretty well designed - scary!

    Although not in my top ten of favorite episodes, the anime crew does a pretty job of getting their point across.moreless

    Ishida makes an interesting proposal to Ichigo; defeat as much Hollows in a 24 hour span. To put a spin to it, he purposely uses a device that attracts Hollows. It was fun watching Ichigo going around and slashing away Hollows one by one, as well as Ishida just calmly and going Legolas on everyone, but the highlight of the episode is Chad. His character so far is the most interesting because of his strong code to not harm anyone, but when he faces a situation where he has to protect Ichigo's sister, his arm suddenly grows a gauntlet and defeats his first Hollow. Though it wasn't only his fight with the Hollow; his flashback with his grandpa was interesting too.moreless

    Well, Ichigo decides to start the match with Ishida, and Ishida reveals it's about killing Hollows. Now, I kinda agree with Ichigo, it's just stupid and dangerous. So, anyway, Ishida starts the battle, so they have to take down all the Hollows. So much work... and Ishida's overconfident. In fact, he is not anything more than a jerk, a big, annoying, high-and-mighty jerk.
    So, anyway, when Rukia's phone start beeping a lot, she thinks it is broken, but in fact there is just a lot of Hollows, and she reacts in a scary way... very scary. And at the same time, it seems Urahara knows what is going on.
    But, the latter half focuses on Chad, and him fighting a Hollow. So, he thinks nicely and tries to lead the Hollow to an idle area to avoid human casualty. However, he only leads it right to Ichigo's sister.
    Anyway, in this fight he manages to awaken his right arm armour-thingy, because he realizes that his strong arms is for protection; they exist to protect others. And that was awesome! Both his background history, his realization and the arm! And then he kills the Hollow easily.

    Chad's right arm reminds me of Kazuma's right arm! This is so cool!!! CHAD ROCKS!!! In this episode, the hollows are coming out of the wazzou, Ichigo is worried for his family's safety, Uryu is still a freakin' jerk, Takski can see spirits now, and Chad is being followed by a great big gorilla-looking hollow. Geez, Katakura was suposed to be one of those towns that have few to no problems at all. Thanks Uryu. Thanks alot. Anyway, while Chad was being chased, he ran into Uyzu, Ichigo's sister. She was able to see the hollow, so she and Chad teamed up to try and get away from the hollow. But Chad decided that he was through running. He took the hollow on one-on-one even if he couldn't see it. Then, his right arm had gotten this really cool armor and he was able to see the hollow completly. He defeted the hollow thi only two puches. Chad is so cool. Any way, he saved the day, and from the looks of things, it will be Orihime's turn.moreless
