Bleach

As always, the fight scenes with the Bounts are extremely underwhelming and are pretty damn boring. Renji's fight with Ubaki and Geselle started off interesting with the whole talk about Renji's desire to fight alone, and then the anime finds a way to screw it up. Same ol' same ol' cat and mouse game. At least Ubaki dies instead of running away to fight another day like the other fights have been. Even Ichigo's small bout with Kariya, which was more like an ass beating, was very lackadaisical. You can tell the animators were trying their hardest to drag things out, like when Ichigo was skidding across the room for unnecessarily long periods of time. The only thing that saves this from being a typical bad episode is the plot twist at the end.

So in this episode Ichigo and Renji run across Yumichika,who is injured.Not soon after Ugaki's doll,Geselle shows it's true form.Then Renji starts a boring speech about regainig his fighting spirit and how he has to fight this battle alone .When he's finished he releases his bankai and attacks Geselle.This doesn't really go that well ,and Renji is ruffed up a little bit before he trys this new move.When Geselle is attacked with this move (she/he)goes crazy and attacks Ugaki,ultamitly killing him.The walls start to cave in and Yumichika decides to go find Renji and tells Ichigo to go on.Ichigo then meets with the rest of the bounto.Jin ,who wants to try out his power attacks Ichigo with brutal force,injuring him severly.while Ichigo is on his back Jin explains his plan to Ichigo,

Awesome episode that has Renji release his bankai and FINALLY kill a bounto\'s puppet. Then we see Ichigo battle Kariya and get handled. Kariya stops Zangetsu twice bear handed, and stops short of killing Ichigo. Kariya wants to test himself so he backs off to let Ichigo release his bankai. We see how powerful Kariya really is in this episode.

If you're the kind of person that doesn't like filler and the low quality associated with it, then you might not like this episode. I know I didn't.



I'd like to address the minor problems first. For one thing, Yumichika is annoying and his "catchphrase" of commenting on how un-beautiful something is gets very old, fast. Secondly, I flinch every time Renji says "Zabimaru", simply because he says it in the weirdest way possible. In general, his voice is getting on my nerves. But admittedly, these claims have little to do with the overall quality of the episode.



The plot, I'll admit, was decent. We get to see Geselle's true form, and another Bounto is defeated. We even get to see Jin fight a bit. That's great and all, but there are still some glaring annoyances. The main one is regarding the fights: at one point, Renji is hit by Geselle and rolls across the room for like 20 meters. Then, he continues to roll to dodge Geselle's move, to make for an overall rolling scene of a couple of minutes. Way too long, and embarrassing to watch. I got over it, until Ichigo did the exact same thing with Jin. Speaking of the fight with Jin, he was overwhelmingly powerful, and Ichigo couldn't anything at all! The fight was boring - it was just Jin stopping Ichigo's zanpakutou with his finger a few times, until Ichigo falls over.



Now, I'll have to admit something else - these 'annoyances' haven't really affected my rating of the episode. They are, after all, just annoyances. But in the end, the reason ths episode couldn't get any better than a high 7 for me was that it just didn't interest me. They could have done a lot more with the material they had.

We finally get to see that the Bountou, even though they are together, they still will betray each other to get there goal. Very good character development for them. It shows that they aren't loyal, but willing to follow. Even Renji has good character development. He finally sees what he is doing wrong and wants to fix it. So he wants a one and one battle with Ugaki doll Geselle.



It is cool that Renji is able easily to defeat the doll, with 20% of his ban-kai, is able to beat this Bountou. We finally find out the Bountous goal, and what is there purpose. It was sort of a shocker, what there plan was. It sets up for a good story, to see what will happen next.

Renji, and Ichigo continue down in the cave to find a injured Yumichika. As they reach to him, Ugaki doll Gesell true form appeared. Renji wants to take him out so he uses his bankai. Renjigets the upper hand and injures Gesell. Meanwhile Kariya betrays Ugaki and lets his own doll crush him. (which I thought was cool) Ichigo gets cut off from Renji and Yumickika and goes ahead. Finally Kariya and Ichigo meets again. Kariya beats the crap out of Ichigo and tells Ichigo about his true plans: To take revenge on Soul Society.
