Bleach is suffering from Dragonball Z syndrome way too soon.

The first episode of the first major arc in Bleach starts off rather unpleasant. In the beginning it was pretty exciting that Soul Society is finally taking action against Rukia and that her older brother was personally sent to retrieve Rukia, but there afterwards it was just talking after talking after talking. It seems that Bleach really wants to make literally the entire script really badass. It just seems like every other line that a character says is some lame comeback attempt or insult. When I think back to the major events of this episode, I just think "wtf there was so much wasted time here."moreless

Ichigo comes home and finds Kon taped to the back of the toilet. Kon then tells Ichigo that she has ran away, so of course Ichigo persues her. When Ichigo finally comes across Rukia, it is too late....she is captured. Being the thick skull soul reaper he is, he decides to charge in and attacked Renji. Ichigo being over-confident, started his assault on Renji but with no prevale against Renji's power. When Ichigo didn't think it could get any worse, Renji unleashes his Zanpaktou's form. After massicuring ichigo Renji starts to get over-conifdent himself but when Ichigo starts to release some mosterous spiritual energy Renji starts to wonder if he underestimated Ichigo....moreless

Rukia Runs Away From Ichigo When She Meets up With Renji Abarai And Renji Tries To Capture Rukia.Then Ichigo Finds Kon Behind The Toliet And Ichigo Gets Him Off Of It! Then Kon Tells Ichigo That Rukia Ran Away And Left A Message But At First Ichigo Has No Idea What It Said Untill He Stacth Out Some Of The Letters And Figured Out What it Said Then He Tells Kon Thats He Needs The Pill But Uhara Shows Up And Then Ichigo Rushs To Where Rukia Is Then He Starts A Battle With Renji Abarai! At First Renji Was Winning But then Ichigo Turned The Tables On Renji!!!moreless

- Renji tells Uryu his name right before he tries to deliver the finishing blow. According to future episodes, Ikkaku taught Renji some combat skills and to always inform your opponents of your name when you fight them to the death.

- In Japanese, the coded message would be slightly more difficult to read. Rukia draws a raccoon on the page which is pronounced "tanuki". In the code, she writes down her message between the symbols for "ta", "nu" and "ki". Ichigo wipes away all the excess symbols and reads the message as intended. When dubbed, the complexity of the language is lost, thus the dubbers simply added a bunch of B's to the message to make it confusing.

- When Ichigo first puts his sword on his shoulders, the beginning of the blade is right beside his head. Yet in the next shot, the beginning of the blade is at least 5 - 6" away from his head.

- Abari Renji has black tribal tattoos over much of his body. Besides his forehead, his arms, neck, shoulders, chest and back are tattooed. His legs do not appear to be tattooed yet. His tattoos increase in conjunction with his personal achievements. The eyebrow tattoos were his first. Rukia likes to tease Renji about his "weird tattooed eyebrows."

It's not like I took off because I was concerned when I sensed Soul Reaper energy and brought this bag from home just for an excuse to be outside. Rukia: (thinking) Whoa, I didn't know he was mentally challenged.

- When Renji asks Ichigo why his sword is so big, he tells Renji that he had noticed that his sword was bigger than Rukia's, but hadn't had anything else to compare it to until now. The reason Ichigo says that he had nothing else to compare his sword to, despite fighting another Shinigami in Episode 8, is because in the manga, that Shinigami was never sent after Rukia, so Ichigo never fought him.
