As the dub gets closer to Uryu's battle with Cirucci, anyone noticed that Uryu more often than not gets matched with the female opponents. In a series like Bleach they choose what type of opponents each character fights for a reason, either what characters matchup best for interesting dioloque and battle, and character devlopment reasons. Ichigo is always going to get the toughest opponents, Chad gets the opponents who don't talk much or share his non nosence attitude of fighting, etc.
Uryu for some reason not always grant you Mayiru is not a girl obviously though he is still a freak, but if someone from Ichigo's group of main team (Ichigo, Rukia, Chad, Uryu, Orihime) has to fight a girl, it is probably Uryu that fights her. He battled Cirucci, even though it is filler he did fight Yoshi in the Bount arc, and one of the Omake outtakes in the latest volume of Bleach released in Japan indicates that Uryu has a confrentation with Menoly or Loly (the dark haired one that last we saw appeared to be dead) and maybe have saved her life.
On the contrast, most of Rukia's opponent are men. Orihime doesn't really fight but of the rare times she fought the opponent was female, one of them being Rukia being controled by a Bount in the Bount arc.
Though I must say, it is not a bad deal to be Uryu giving chooses of opponents. Especially if the alternative is fighting a big fat giant ugly man.
