*sigh* Just like the episode before this one, nothing happened at all. The first half of the episode was basically back and forth trash talking between Commander General Yamamoto and Captains Ukitake and Kyouraku. Other than the fact that Ukitake and Kyouraku are the only soul slayers to come in a pair, the first half of this episode was trash. And you know what happens when they three finally fight? Commercial break and it moves onto a not so better fight. The second half concentrated on Yoruichi and Soi Fong's fight, and like the fight with Yamamoto, all trash talking. Bleach is starting to take a Dragonball Z road with all of this stupid talking.moreless
  • Soi Fong and Yoruichi the best cat fight you can get.

    9.1
This was a mildly interesting episode, with the cat fight, no pun intended if you know what I mean. We finally really get to see the 2nd Division Captain battle. It was also another one of the episodes where, student(s) fight the teacher. This episode was well attack packed. Expect they did jump around a little to much.
  • Soi Fong and Yoruichi go at it... not bad at all.

Anyone else getting sick of them repeating the ending of the previous episode as the intro to the new episode? What a waste of time...

Anyways, Bleach 56 is quite a thing to see. Besides the initial chatter between Yamamoto and the other two, the action between Soi Fong and Yoruichi is quite nicely paced. A bit of revelation here, a bit of fighting there. And I find Soi Fong's shikai quite awesome looking.

Anyways, the ending was kind of cheesy, comes to wonder why Yoruichi didn't pull her little move in the beginning when she was getting cut all over. But overall, the brief fight sequences were quite nice (except for that first DBZ-esque exchange, that was just disturbing).

Can't wait til the next episode.moreless
  • Decently plotted out, rather enjoyable.

    8.8
This episode basically set up for a few battles to come. I found my self saying "Just fight already damnit!" There are only what appears to be the start of one fight, with a lot of dialogue. The we are put straight into another battle. This one seems quite intense and will probably be finished in the next episode. I found this episode to be giving people a lot of anticipation towards the next episode. Sadly, Ichigo is not shown in this episode at all, but he is shown in the preview of the next episode. All in all this is just an episode setting up the action for the next.moreless

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • Soi Fon's zanpakuto is Suzumebachi, which has the ability to kill anyone with two strikes on the same area of the opponent's body.

    • Jidanbo and Kukaku have returned and are going for walk to see Yoruichi. Also, Jidanbo has made a full recovery.

    • Katen Kyokotsu, wielded by Kyoraku Shunsui, and Sogyo no Kotowari, wielded by Ukitake Jushiro, are the only twin blades in the whole of Soul Society.

  • QUOTES (9)

    • Yumichika: There you are Captain! I've been looking for you, you've won your battle already?
Kenpachi: No, they fled. It was looking like a good fight too, but that wolf-faced bastard ran off before we even got started.
      Yumichika: Wolf-faced?
Kenpachi: He suddenly started screaming about old man Yamamoto fighting somewhere.

    • (during the preview for the next episode)
Ichigo: Yoruichi has gotten all serious, so in the next episode, I'm gonna...
      Yoruichi: You're going to strip?
Ichigo: No, I'm not gonna strip! I'm not like you!
Yoruichi: You're not? How boring. I was kind of looking forward to it.
Zangetsu: Then I will do it.

    • Yoruichi: It's called Shunpo.
Soi Fon: You don't know what you're talking about!
Yoruichi: Don't you know why that Kasen uniform you're wearing leaves the back and shoulders exposed? Because those parts would be wasted. When this move is performed, a dense Kido envelops the user's back and shoulders. The Kido draws power first to the arms and legs and then it explodes outward. In other words, the moment this move is activated, the fabric on the back and shoulders would be blown off. The fact is...I really didn't want to have to resort to using this technique against you. You'd better be careful, Soi Fon. Because, to tell you the truth, even I can't control this technique very well.

    • Yoruichi: You certainly are talkative today, Soi Fon. Is it because you're excited to see your old mentor after so many years? Or are you just expressing your usual pent up anger... like the child I remember? Well? Which is it, Commander? Has it been a little too much for you? Following in my footsteps...

    • Soi Fon: I'm not impressed, for someone who spent as many years hidden away as you have, it doesn't seem to me like you've gotten any stronger, Yoruichi.
Yoruichi: Well you on the other hand, looks like you've let your skills get rather dull and rusty.

    • Zaraki: You mean you won without getting so much as a scratch?
Yumichika: Yes! Oh, but I should tell you, I did get my outfit kind of dirty, so I had to go change clothes, that's where I just came from.
Zaraki: Somehow you actually look healthier now than you did before the fight.
Yumichika: Do you mean it, captain? Do you really think I'm beautiful? That's so nice of you to tell me!
Zaraki: That's not what I said, you moron. Get a grip!

    • Ukitake: How long has it been, since I've seen him in this state. How long has it been, since my body has been struck by a fear so abysmal and encompassing as the depths of the sea. At shikai, this spirit force is already exorbitant. That heat scorches the heavens and erases even the clouds. The path carved by his blade renders the entire world unto smoldering ashes. Among all soul slayers, this boasts the greatest attack power, and of flame-heat types, it is the oldest and strongest soul slayer. This is…Ryūjin Jakka.

    • (Yoruichi clears out the surrounding ninjas)
Yoruichi: I've sure been underestimated. I certainly did abandon the name of Corps Commander, but I don't remember abandoning my other name.
Soi Fong: (thinking) God of Flash, Yoruichi.

    • Soi Fong: Do you understand yet that I'm superior to you? If you understand, then I'll finish you!
