  • This is the worst episode ever, but I Hope William Street took it off the [Adult Swim] air (along with Squrriel Boy)

This program reeks. But, I suppose if you found the humor stylings of "Brotown" hysterical, and then thought that a poorly Voiced version of it would be even better, then this show is for you.

Actually, "Voice-Actingn" is too strong a word here, since hardly anything 10-year-old boy who sounds like a man: "Yakkity Yak" looks like "Sonic X" in comparison.

Because of the nature of a bell curve, you can be sure that any offering, no matter how poorly-executed, will find an audience that finds it "groundbreaking." "Bleach" is no exception, but don't be fooled by that tenth of a percent of a standard deviation of the [Adult Swim]/William Street population that is enthusiastic about it.

It's just not funny at all, and we can only hope that [Adult Swim]/William Street finds something worthwhile with which to fill its spot.

Perhaps a spin off of "CatDog"?moreless
  • Artistic!

What I thought was the most fascinating concept about watching Bleach is its relationships between the soul slayers and the death gods. The world within Ichigo's soul and him looking for his death god powers just really swept me up; it was artistic. Outside of the scene where Ichigo almost turns into a hollow, everything else was pretty mediocre. The scene with Orihime playing around with her little fairies was fruitless--although if anything it advanced the plot a little bit. And the kids messing with Ichigo and spitting on him felt like a waste of time. Bleach just tries too hard on its humour.moreless
  • Very suspenseful.

I can't believe Rukia's gonna die!! *cry* But there's no way Ichigo would let that happen's all good. :P I was in rofl when Chad was tring to remember what Karin looked like to help awaken his power. He got the baseball cap and hair right. But when he imagined Ichigo's face on the body with lipstick?!! Lol. That's enough to make anyone sick to their stomach. XD

I was surprised that Ichigo was turning into a hollow. I knew he would succeed in becoming a Soul Reaper, I just didn't know how. But of course, he survived, made it out of the shaft, and passed the 2nd challenge. Now he has to knock Urahara's hat off his head if he wants to pass the 3rd challenge. Urahara was going to give him an unlimited amount of time to do so, but of course, Ichigo loves to push himself. He says he can knock the hat off in 5 min. Ichigo's good, but is he good enough?moreless
  • Trapped at the bottom of the Shattered Shaft with his Chain of Fate rapidly being devoured, Ichigo must find a way out or else he'll become a Hollow!

The part in the manga when Ichigo nearly became a Hollw/regained his Soul Reaper powers was one of my favorite parts. (Don't know why, it just is.)

So of course I really liked the part in the anime, which I have been waiting for a really long time.

Simply put, this is a must-see episode for Bleach fans.
  • Rukia’s sentence gets moved up.In the pit,Ichigo enters his own mind while fighting the Hollow transformation and meets a mysterious man. He must find his shinigami powers before his inner-world crumbles. He emerges in a shinigami uniform & Hollow masmoreless

Pay attention, ya\'ll! There\'s a LOT going on here. Remember how Rukia bound Ichigo in the first episode with Level 1 binding spell? Well, Tessai used a Level 99 spell. That\'s pretty damn powerful. Urahara\'s crew is an interesting bunch! There\'s more to all of them than meets the eye...especially Yoruichi. Keep an eye on Ichigo\'s hollow mask. Lots of foreshadowing there. Urahara is, for all intensive purposes, a good guy, but he\'s always got his own agenda. This was a great episode. Good character development. Excellent buildup to the Soul Society arc. We learn more about Ichigo, Urahara, and encounter Zangetsu. I love the complexity of Bleach. Often, the audience is just as confused as the teenage protagonists. And I love how the teenagers are often awkward around each other. They may have incredible powers, but they\'re still kids. The realness of the characters makes Bleach so easy to get into and so much fun to watch.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • To answer the question as to why in the English version Ichigo apparently doesn't hear Zangetsu tell him his name is because it must be from Zangetsu's hearing and not Ichigo's.

    • Kon's Ultimate Shinigami Illustrated Guide: 12th squad captain Kurotsuchi Mayuri.

    • In the English version, when Zangetsu says his name to Ichigo, Ichigo says he couldn't hear it, yet Zangetsu clearly said his name, unlike the Japanese version where his name was muddled so you couldn't understand what he said.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Jinta: Hey! Is that you? Answer carrot top! If you're alive answer me!
Jinta: After seeing Ichigo's new form A shihakusho and a mask? Is he a hollow? Or is he a Soul Reaper?
Jinta: (when Ichigo pulls out his Zanpakuto) I may be small but I'll fight you!

    • Urahara: Congratulations! It seems you went and became a Soul Reaper again. Well done! Lesson two completed.
Ichigo: Shut up! Well, well, well I bet you weren't expecting me to come back alive, were you.

    • Ichigo: (to Urahara) Well, well, well. I bet you weren't expecting me to come back alive, were ya? I swore to myself that if I ever made it out of that hole, I would kill you the first chance I got!

    • Ichigo: (to Zangetsu) I'm sorry, but unfortunately, I don't know anyone as depressing as you.

    • Rukia: (thinking) We are taught never to shed tears... for to shed tears means that the body has been defeated by emotion. And to us... that simple act of crying only proves without question that the existence of emotion is nothing but a burden.
