This was really sad. We got to know that Ichigo's mom died several years ago, and how it happened; that he ran down to a river and tried to save a boy that was about to jump (but he was really a spirit), and his mother ran after him, only to die for reasons unknown. This was really sad, and Ichigo blames himself for her death, and that was really, really terrible. Another story; a shinigami came after Rukia, to find out why she had been in the living world so long. Of course, she couldn't give him an answer, but it ended with Ichigo trying to attack that dude. It all stopped, however, when a Hollow attacked Ichigo's sisters.

A great and sad episode. 9.6/10

On the anniversary of his mother's death Ichigo and his family visit her grave. While he is there Ichigo remembers the day his mother died. Rukia is found by a Shinigami who asks her why she hasn't returned to the Soul Society. Ichigo accidentally tells him that he is her substitute Soul Reaper; which happens to be a felony. Meanwhile Ichigo's sisters are being attacked by a Hollow. This is one of the best episodes ever. Ichigo is conflicted with the death of his mother. His mother was so nice and she had to die. Rukia beleives she might have been killed by a hollow and ichigo refuses to listen. All in All amazing episode
  • Kind of depressing.

The events of the previous episode start to build up within this episode; Soul Society's impatience towards Kuchiki Rukia's absence finally take action, and we get to know a little bit more about the death of Ichigo's mother as well as some back history. It was pretty depressing to see how Ichigo was an indirect result of his mother's death, and it made it even more sad that he was a mama's boy. His badass personality seems to take a lot from feeling guilty about his mom's death. And the events of the death god instigating about Rukia brewed up some interesting situations, such as why it was a felony for Rukia to lend her powers to Ichigo.
  • An exciting and bit sad episode.
