Ichigo: I know you wanna ask me about my mother's death, don't you? Rukia: Would you answer me if I did? That's your business. All I know is, for you... it's a deep and jagged wound. And because of that, I don't know how to ask you about it without dredging up your pain all over again. Without tearing your heart completely apart. I'll wait for now... and when you wanna talk... when you feel like you're ready to tell me about it... I'll be there to listen.

Ichigo: (to Kon) You brought me here in a panic because you said it was an emergency, you fur ball!

Ichigo: (thinking) I loved my mother so much. I always felt safe as long as she was with me. Back then I didn't know I was seeing ghosts. I couldn't tell the difference between the living and the dead. When I was little my Dad told me my name meant 'he who protects'. Up until then I had just wanted to protect my mother and my sisters, but that day I knew I was meant to protect that little girl too. That's all I was trying to do. But instead my Mom died trying to protect me from going into the river. I never saw what caused it... I never saw it coming... but I knew when I looked at her that my Mom was dead... and the little girl was gone. I remember thinking... how am I going to explain what had happened to Karin and Yuzu. We all loved my Mom. She was the center of our universe... the heart of our family... (crying) ...and now that heart had been cut out... by me.

Ichigo: So, what are you upset about? Rukia: Actually, I'm not upset about anything. (long pause) Listen, about your mother... I heard you mention that someone killed her. Ichigo: I never said that. Rukia: But you never said who killed her... Ichigo: Listen, just drop it, okay? Rukia: When I first met you, you said you'd been able to see spirits since you were very young. Ichigo, I need you to answer one more question. Your mother... could she have been killed by... a Hollow? (Ichigo gasps) Rukia: Do you think that it's possible? If your spiritual capabilities were that high as a child, then there may have been a Hollow who sensed you, and when it came after you, it could have killed... Ichigo: Stop it! Just shut up! Why does everything always have to be about Hollows with you anyway? There was no freaking Hollow there that day, alright?! You'll never understand the pain and suffering I have to live with every single day. So... sorry to wreck your theory, but all the usual suspects, like Hollows, serial killers, thugs... they're not to blame... I am. (runs away) Rukia: Huh? Wait... Ichigo!

(dubbed version) Yuzu: (Sigh) Boy, We're never gonna get to the top. Karin: Speak for yourself. This hill's no problem... and please don't let dad hear you say that. Isshin: You can do it Yuzu! Hang in there! You see, dad's on your side! Karin: Now you did it. Just ignore him, or else he'll never stop. Giving guys like him attention only encourages them. Isshin: You're wrong about that. I'm automatically encouraged even if you ignore me! Karin: Look out Yuzu! Isshin: Father's slide attack says: this way to the top! (Runs up the hill on his hands way fast) Karin: And daughter says: go back to the bottom! (Kicks Isshin back down to the bottom) Karin: There, now we can walk in peace for a while. (Continues walking up the hill)

(subbed version) Yuzu: Hey look! There's someone at the cemetery waving at us. (Ichigo looks ahead and is shocked to see Rukia in a sun dress and a hat waving to them.) Yuzu: Onii-chan (Brother), did you know her? Ichigo: No! No! I don't know her! Never met her before! Karin: I seem to recognize her from somewhere. Ichigo: Oh, now I remember! She was my childhood friend since primary school, and I was so anxious that I want to talk to her now! (sprints off to Rukia) I'll see you guys later! Yuzu: Onii-chan!!

Isshin: Hey! Hey! Hey! Cheer up! It's time for the annual "Kurosaki Family Tombstone Domino Rally"! A game that's a full 2 1/2 hours of tomb-trashing action!
