Orihime: (thinking) Sometimes I wish I could be the rain. If I were... then would I have a way to connect two hearts together? The way the rain connects the sky, even though the two never touch. With each passing day, Ichigo, I think I come to understand you... at least a little bit more.

Ichigo: I don't really know... how long Yuzu grieved after our mother died. And I can only imagine how lonely Karin must have felt without her. I've also made it my duty to protect the innocent... and that means... it's my duty... to destroy you!

(Saido gets stabbed by Grand Fisher's claws in order to save Yuzu and Karin.) Ichigo: Why? Tell me... you sacrificed yourself. Saido: I'm a Soul Reaper, kid. We fight Hollows... and we kill them without mercy no matter what. When a Hollow attacks at random... and kills someone... that person's loved ones are the real victims. They're left with nothing but an emptiness, and as a Soul Reaper I couldn't let that happen. We vow to always protect the innocent. You understand, spiky head? (collapses) Ichigo: Hey! Get up! You hear me? (to Rukia) H...he can't die, can he? He's a Soul Reaper. Rukia: Ichigo, even Soul Reapers are not immortal. If the injuries are severe enough... (Saido snores) Ichigo: Wait a minute! He's only sleeping. Tell him to get up... or I'll kill him!

Grand Fisher: Even the most cold-blooded Soul Reaper has one person whom he can never kill. That is a fact that you cannot deny.

Rukia's superior: Remember this well. There are two types of fights. We must be able to distinguish between them as we devote our lives to battle. The fight to protect life, and the fight to protect pride.

Ichigo: "Anger can dull the blade," huh? That may be so, but you know, you made one mistake. A dull blade is more than enough to defeat a bastard like you!
