Blind Date (UK)

Show Summary

1n 1985, London Weekend Television (LWT) launched a UK version of the Australian game show Perfect Match, where three contestants are questioned by a member of the opposite sex, with the winner selected to go on a date.

The show was hosted by well-known TV presenter Cilla Black whose scouse charm brought in almost 20m viewers at its peak. The highly popular 'our Graham', Graham Skidmore, provided witty summaries of the contestants questions and answers for all bar the final series, whereby he was replaced by Tommy Sandhu.

The show ended in 2003 after Cilla announced, on the first ever live show, that she was quitting at the end of the series

The final date ever was between David Leech, a young farmer from Manchester, and Laura Bright, a fashion model from Chester. They were flown to Tenerife where they enjoyed a sailing trip and cocktails on the beach.

Can i just question the 'UK version of the US show' thing please. It's not a UK version of the US show as the UK aired the show (1985) many many years before the US, so if anything, it's a US version of a UK show. Just thought I'd put the record straight.

I absolutely loved the show in its prime and still watch the repeats on Challenge TV in the UK. But if reumours are to be believed, it has been penned for a comeback. Please god no! Even if Cilla Black does come back to present it, it won't be the same and will ruin the much loved memory of it in the heart of the fans.moreless
