The situation in this episode is very common in the comics and features Blondie and Cookie trying to stop their husbands from going way too far in their actions.

Dagwood is revealed to be inept and lazy when it comes to home repairs, leading Blondie to joke that their house should be sold.

Seeking to avoid the probable conflicts of moving in with the Bumsteads, Cora Dithers is much more interested in taking a vacation to Florida.

Dithers goes to the hospital for stomach ulcers. Ironically, it's Dagwood's own daughter Cookie who objects to the destruction of a bird nest with tiny eggs inside by Dithers Construction Company.

Not only is Blondie convinced that Dagwood should be a Vice President of Dithers Construction - to boost his confidence, she sends him a fake telegram telling him that he has inherited $100,000.
