I agree. I only recently heard of the show on Lifetime from "Moonlight" discussion forums. I've since watched all 22 episodes. I was disappointed in how "Deep Dark" ended as well. Henry is more tempermentally suited to Vicky than Mike is. I was hoping Mike would get involved with his new partner while Vicky explored her relationship with Henry. But I guess we would need a true Season 2 for anything like that to actually happen. I did like the writing and the way Henry and Mike briefly, but tellingly, spoke about their feelings for Vicky and how out of reach she was emotionally. This was done in a short, typically male, fashion.
In these last two episodes, both Mike and Henry were honest with themselves and with Vicky. However, she was too self-absorbed and goal-oriented to really notice what they were telling her - totally shutting out her emotions and reactions. It broke my heart to see Henry look at her and make his plans to leave. Likewise, when Mike told Vicky that he spent a year getting over her then another year trying to get her back. His comment that she wasn't going to get together with "capatain canine" either was funny and got straight to the point that she wasn't letting either of them near her.
I think Vicky finally got it. Whether she would be willing to change or not we may never know. Seriously, that Lifetime chose to not air the last two NEW episodes in favor of reruns of Will and Grace is completely outrageous.
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching Blood Ties with it's supernatural and romantic themes and I think it deserves another season and a much better network. It seems like USA would be the ideal network for this series, as it is mainstream and PG rated like Dead Zone. Even CW would be a better network - they do air Supernatural and Smallville, after all. While Blood Ties isn't quite as sophisticated, modern, and intense as "Moonlight", there is room for more than one vampire show.
Give Vicky and Henry (and Mike) a chance!
