What a tragic story. The tale of Medusa is quite sad indeed and in the mythology she made many men pay for her curse. Elena's story seemed somewhat similar but one wonders what or who would be responsible for turning someone into this kind of monster.

Brandon and the other men only crime was their truth in telling Elena that she is beautiful. You had to love the maturity of Mike's reaction to her asking if she was beautiful. Instead of the need to tell her she is he apologized for her need to be asking such a question and cursed the person who would have caused this kind of flaw in her. Mike and Vicki are really having a hard time with each other. Vicki wants to let Mike off the hook but Mike does not make it easy for her. They know each other too well.

Henry and Vicki's relationship doesn't seem to be moving forward at all. Vicki continues to use his help and you wonder why he is so agreeable to be assisting her so often. The yearly painting of his sire is interesting. It would be a fascinating experience to see all of those paintings side by side. How they must differ over the years.

Coreen continues to be an invaluable assistant to Vicki. I hope we see her more involved in the coming episodes as she was in this one. Good special effects, excellent acting by all the principles and by Lisa Ray who played Elena. Enjoyable story and interesting creature to have to deal with. In the end the woman with the sword did it. Thanks for reading...moreless
  • Cute episode, i feel bad for the other guy!!

that guy at the end, he really loved her and it actually nearly made me cry. he really did love her unlike anything

i didnt like how vicki was jealous of mike, or the writers wanted it to seem that way

vicki was also jealous of the actual girl. she seemed a bit beware of henrys affection to her or when he said the case got interesting with her tattoo.

you can see the chemistry grow each episode and im enjoying watching the whole story. its amazing how well they actors are playing it, for such a low budget show with only a select fan base i say this is a total successmoreless

they are starting to get a little serious on this show which is good but really vicki should have shown more remorse at having caused that kid's death. had she not gone to the club & told the bouncer to ask elena if her house felt emptier, the kid might still be alive. the fight scene was pretty good, even though i still think she should add a taser to her arsenal. i like that mike told her that they should just forget about it. you can't string along a guy like that forever. even my patience with her is starting to wear thin. it's too bad for him that elena turned out to be the bad guy. i like that vicki buried the kid & her indecision at comforting mike at the very end when they were in the woods was a great scene! some good acting from christina this episode & coreen was hawt as usual. elena was a good character & lisa ray did an excellent job at the end when elena was recounting her origin. best episode so far.moreless
  • Everybody lost on this one

For me, this episode was a bit of a let down after "Heart of Fire." I didn't really care much about the fate of the kid or the monster. Neither one was really a sympathetic character. The kid seemed like a narcissistic jerk and Medusa, even with the whole snake head thing, was just kind of boring and not all that threatening. I could have done with less Medusa and more of the Henry / Vicki / Mike story. To me that storyline should have been the main emphasis as the follow up episode to "Heart of Fire" rather than what felt like a generic monster of the week story.moreless
  • Perfectly perfect, as always.

The Blood Ties episodes seem to be getting progressively darker and more serious. This change, however, suits the show. Humour, lightheartedness, and romance are still in the air, but the story line remains serious. Stone Cold really explored the relationship and interactions between Vicki and Mike. Even though I'm not a big fan of Mike, I still enjoyed it immensely. Henry doesn't seem to be bothered by the fact that Vicki is hung up on Mike (he almost falls for the episode's antagonist). I find that interesting, seeing as how the romantic tension between Vicki and Henry has been there from the start. I guess we'll see.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • In Henry's appartement is a painting hanging on the wall which shows Henry VIII (Henry's father).

    • Author of the Books, Tanya Huff makes a appearance on the show. She was the hooker in the background, when Vicki and Mike were talking at the police station.

    • In Greek Mythology, Medusa was one of three sisters known as the Gorgons. Medusa was the youngest and most beautiful of the three. After being raped by Posiedon in Athena's temple, Athena punished her by turning Medusa hideous with hair of snakes and the ability to turn anyone into stone with a look. Medusa was the only one of the three sisters who was mortal; hence Perseus was able to kill her by cutting off her head while using her reflection in a mirrored shield as a guide.
