Saya and the group, joined along by The Red Shield, Clara, Spencer, Rogers and McCoy, pursue the container carrying Diva which was transferred to the school. They trek up the Mekong River to the experiment farm of Cinq Fleche Pharmaceutical where they find Mui, Riku and Kai as well as numerous children kidnapped and brought here from all over Vietnam. Saya and the others are not aware of this fact, however, as they prepare for a clash.moreless

Why oh why is Saya such a wimp all of a sudden?

I swear, as soon as I finally start to like Saya a little bit, she disappoints me again.

Well, Red Shield are tracking down the special container that is supposedly holding Diva. They are traveling through the jungle, when Saya suddenly hears someone singing a song. The catch is, she's the only one who can (except Haji, I think. He reacted negatively at the very least, but again, what else is new).

So, Argeno and Carl and those people are turning children into chiropterans? That's terrible! I honestly felt sorry for them. I didn't feel the least bit sorry for Saya. Supposedly this song was affecting her, but I still thought she should have gotten it together and fought like she was SUPPOSED to.moreless

My two bits: This ep was very disturbing. I've seen it a few times now and still my skin crawls. Of course, the whole Five Arrows Corporation is evil, I mean that goes without saying, but more than any other ep this shows the depths to which that is true. Too bad Saya has not achieved her totally butt-kicking status yet. I know she gets there, but it is hard to watch her whimpering on the ground as people die around her. As a peripheral note, I never was able to like Solomon because of his participation this atrocity. And Van Argeno is even worse. Diva is so close, but still an ocean of time away. This ep isn't one of my favs, but it furthers the story line nicely.moreless

- Nicaraguan Civil War Clara mentions that she fought Chiropterans in Nicaragua. As David mentioned in My Father's Hands, Chiropteran sightings increased drastically after the Vietnam War (1968-1973), in places such as Central America. In the Nicaraguan Civil War (1979-1982), Communist Sandinistas fought the Contra rebels in a civil war for control of the government. This war must have been when Clara became involved with the Red Shield.
