Blue Exorcist

Show Summary

Blue Exorcist is the Japanese anime series based on the manga written and illustrated by Kazue Kato. We are transported into a world where two dimensions are joined as one, like a mirror. The first world is Assiah, where humans live, and the other is Gehenna, the land of demons. It was thought that travel or contact between the worlds was impossible, but demons are able to pass over into the human world by possessing people in Assiah. Satan, the god of demons and the most powerful, has never been able to pass over because there wasn't a container strong enough to hold him, until he created Okumura Rin. Rin, along with his twin brother Yukio Okumura are raised by the priest Shiro Fujimoto, but one day Rin learns the truth. His father is actually Satan, and as the border between Assiah and Gehenna falls apart, Rin vows to defeat his father by becoming a powerful exorcist and ridding Assiah of the demons living in it's people.moreless

  • Awesome But

    7.0
This was a very great anime. It's like the Omen if Damien sided with humanity. It has a great story, great animation, I enjoy the bond between the brothers, the powers and abilities are awesome.

There are a few flaws though. It was canceled while the manga was ongoing, I would have loved to see Rin and Shiemi's relationship grow a little more and the ending was a bit of a disappointment. I would have bought the DVD sets, except that when I looked at them on Amazon, they were like a hundred dollars.moreless
  • Amazing Anime

i love the characters and the storyline i have much in common with yukio
  • A boring, juvenile anime.

    3.5
Too many cliches. I will say it's artwork is nice, but everything else is shit. The story follows a boy named Rin who is raised by a priest and the boy turns out to be satan's son and he gets a sword and turns into a demon. The characters are unlikable, the plot is disjointed and the dialogue feels like it was written by a 5 year old.
  • Great anime, but loses it in the second half.

    9.0
The great thing about Blue Exorcist is that it has great execution. There are numerous flaws with the anime, one is that this show likes to rely on a bunch of cliches to keep the story going, but this anime is fun. The characters are strong, and it has very nice themes of friendship and love.

Being an avid reader of the manga as well, the ending was a bit offsetting, but since I am just happy about the anime itself, I won't dock off too much for it. The ending was a bit corny, but I think this anime should have waited a couple of months to start production for the story to be improved, as it's source material is the manga.

Strong points are the execution, animation, characters, design, and music, but weak points are the cliches it uses and the disappointing ending.

Don't let that stop you from watching this though. It's still a great anime.moreless
