On their way to see the new constable who took over the station in Widgeree, Jo and PJ become embroiled in a case that involves aliens, Ned Kelly's saddle and a missing boy. They struggle to find out the truth when even the local police believe they had been abducted.moreless
  • A kidnapped boy, a stolen saddle and strange lights in the night sky which may or may not be connected.

The episode opens with a woman concerned her neighbour has been kidnapped by aliens; he shows up as they go to his house to investigate, only to comfirm the alien story. The Heelers are joined by an officer at a nearby station who redefines the term clumsy, although the men seem to think she's very attractive. (I personally thought she was quite average looking, myself.) This sets off a spate of alient kidnapping which even Jo is intriqued by, having seen strange lights in the night sky.

Meanwhile, a saddle which apparantly belonged to Ned Kelly has been stolen, with suspicious falling on the publican, who had insured it for a considerable amount of money.

A woman comes in claiming her son has been kidnapped as they were headed to Spain. Suspicion falls on the man who claimed to be kidnapped by aliens, who also happens to be the little boy's uncle - the brother of his father, a deadbeat who lost all custody rights thanks to his drug problems.

It turns out the spate of 'alien kidnappings' were a hoax caused by magic mushrooms mixed into the mushroom sauce, then exaserbated by the kidnapped man looking to explain away his absence - he was in melbourne, kidnapping his nephew. And the saddle was 'stolen' by the publican, who wanted both the insurance money and the saddle, to put his little town on the map.

A damn enjoyable episode, with your typical array of eccentric characters, both from the country and the city. I'm begining to think that s11 was Blue Heelers finest, and things went downhill from there.
