Amy decides to come forward and make a statement about the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her Uncle John some 15 years ago. The Boss points out how difficult it will be to get a conviction and stand up in court, but Amy is determined to get him. Amy: "Look, I know how difficult this is going to be ok and thankyou, but I don't need anyone to play devil's advocate."
When her Uncle is brought in for questioning, Amy wants to see him. As expected he denies all accusations. Amy gets frustrated, realising it is her word against his and begins to doubt her own memories. As Amy undertakes a hypnotherapy session, things get more confusing as she realises that things are not as she remembers. Amy now wants to drop the case, to Pj's disappointment.
PJ: "It's not like you to just give up."
Amy: "Look. You don't know the half of what is going on here alright."
Amy takes matters into her own hands, confronting her Uncle. Amy: "I have to say this, and I want you to listen." With Pj by her side Amy tells her Uncle that what he did was wrong. He is shocked when Amy mentions that she told her Aunt about the abuse just before she kicked Amy out of home. We realise the horror Amy suffered as a teenager, forced into the abortion of her Uncle's baby by her Aunt and kicked out of home at 16.
Amy: "I was 16, standing at the railway platform with a suitcase and nowhere to go."
Susie informs Amy that her Uncle made a full confession. Amy tries to understand her feelings, she thought that confronting her Uncle would free her and that everything would change.
Susie: "I think what you did was really brave."
Amy: "Brave?"
Susie: "To face up to him."
Amy: "I thought things would change, I thought I would change."
Susie: "Nothing's going to change right away."
Amy: "Maybe nothing will ever change. Maybe this is as good as it gets."
