Summer of Love
AIRED:
After the skeleton of a young man is found in an old apartment house, Pogue initially suspects that the man may have been killed in the Rochdale College riots, but a composite recreation leads detectives to a twenty-five year old missing person, Liam Morrison, who has not been seen since late August of 1974. While investigating the murder, they learn that Liam was an informant for Pat Berlinger, a legend in the police department. Further investigations lead them to the discovery that Barrow was partnered with Berlinger on the night that Morrison disappeared.moreless

      • Ed Oosterhuis: You're pregnant by a guy. He splits. And that's that? You don't even go looking for him? You don't even file a missing persons' report?
Jackson Pogue: Maybe you don't want to find him. Maybe he's a bad-news bear.
Ed Oosterhuis: Yeah maybe. Or maybe you know where he is.
Jackson Pogue: Dead and buried in the apartment house across the street, you figure?

      • Ed Oosterhuis: How did you meet Liam Morrison anyway?
Pat Berlinger: Caught him redhanded with a shitload of hash on him, is how.
Ed Oosterhuis: And you didn't arrest him?
Pat Berlinger: Christ, no! Kid looks like that, he might as well show up at the prison gate wearing high heels and panties, right sweetheart? (to Castillo, over his shoulder) He was going to be somebody's wife, for sure -- something told me Liam didn't want that.

      • Jackson Pogue: Maybe he's a bad-news bear.

The Bad News Bears was a 1976 film about a former minor league player who ends up coaching a team of misfits. The film led to the term 'bad news bear' entering into the slang vernacular refering to a 'bad boy'.
