Goof: When Baby Mailbox brings young Steve the mail he is shown wearing the same flagwarmer that Steve did not give him until he grew up.
When Baby Mailbox is about to deliver the mail and the Mailbox song starts, Young Steve doesn't sing the familiar lyrics to the song; he just runs around the room and finally yells, "Maiiillll!"
In "Meet Joe," Joe said he made his duck doll, Boris, himself, but at the beginning of Mr. Salt's video, the camera zooms in on baby Joe, and there's Boris sitting right next to him. Does this mean Joe was some kind of prodigy tailor to be able to make a doll as a baby?
Joe: Mr. Salt, we were just babies. We don't remember what happened.
Steve: (reading from "About A Puppy") But what Blue wanted more than anything else was a friend to play with.
Joe: It's my brother Steve. He's calling all the way from college.
This episode was also billed in Nickelodeon advertisements as the "Blue's Clues Holiday Special."
Angela Santomero is credited as Angela C. Santomero and receives a "Based on a Story by" credit.
William Ulrich and Ethan Twomey Perello each receive "Feauring As" credits and Steve Burns receives the coveted "Special Guest" credit. Ethan Twomey Perello is the son of show writer / executive producer Jennifer Twomey Perello.
"Blue's First Holiday" was originally direct-to-video, available as the first of two episodes on a video that was released September 30th, 2003. It is also available on DVD.
Joe is wearing an orange shirt in this episode. Baby Joe also wears an orange shirt and Joe also dons a red jacket and cap, each with a yellow band that has orange squares.
Mailtime Segment: Mailbox delivers a holiday card. In the holiday card, four kids talk about the holiday traditions they celebrate: Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Christmas and Ramadan and we learn a little something about each tradition.
