Blue's Clues

Steve shows up outside the entrance to the Blue's Clues house, asking us if we like bugs. He's wearing a hat with antennae and says that he and Blue are going on a bug-watching expedition. He invites us to come along with them to look for bugs in the "wild, untamed backyard." Blue finds a bug rather quickly - a dragonfly at rest on a yellow flower. We observe the dragonfly, how it flies about and buzzes. Steve enjoys how it looks like a helicopter and says the dragonfly is one of his favorite bugs. We continue the bug-watching expedition and later, Periwinkle shows up and joins in. We spot a bug hopping in the grass: a cricket! We observe that it's hopping and wonder why that might be. A couple theories are suggested, such as perhaps that maybe hopping is just its way of getting around. Next, we find Shovel, who's watching another bug. It's called a "mole cricket" and it's digging in the dirt. It digs tunnels way underneath the ground. Again, we consider a couple reasons why it might be doing this: it might be a making a home, or it might rest under the ground. Shovel says that this is favorite bug because it likes digging, just like him. Finally, Pail joins us in our expedition. As we look carefully, we spot a bug hiding on a tree branch. This is a stick bug, a bug that looks a lot like the branch itself. We all agree that it's hiding, but wonder why it might be hiding. It could be scared of something, or it might be looking for food. Later, our expedition takes a new turn as Blue skidoos into a big bug book. There, we find ourselves very small, the same size as bugs and surrounded by giant blades of grass. We meet up with an ant named Antoinette, who says that she's a worker ant and it's her first day on the job. We follow her and help her out in using her antennae to track food to take to her colony. She finds some and Steve tries to help her out by lifting a crumb, but it's very heavy. Steve can't lift it, but Antoinette can because ants are very strong. We visit the anthill, where we see that there are many different rooms, such as the "baby room" and the "storage room." We meet Antoinette's mom - the Queen and Antoinette gives the Queen a piece of the crumb.
