    • Whenever he draws something, Joe uses his left hand, but when he fingerpainted Purple Kangaroo, he was clearly using his right hand to do it. Is Joe ambidextrous?

    • At the end of the opening sequence, Blue enters the Blue's Clues house through the pet door. Joe then shows up outside and leads us over to Blue, who has apparently actually been outside for some time.

    • Close-captioning during the opening sequence credits Mailbox as saying "I can play!" when the correct line is actually "Right this way!" This mistake is only found on the DVD version of the episode.

    • This episode is the second of two on the video "Shapes and Colors" and the second of two regular episodes on the DVD by the same name.

    • Joe has the ability to change his favorite color at whim.

    • Jennifer Twomey is credited as Jennifer Twomey Perello, Shadoe Alan Brandt is credited as Shadoe Brandt and Jennifer Michelle Brown is credited as Jennifer Brown.

    • Some of the ideas used in this episode were also seen in "Adventures In Art."

    • This episode also appeared in online listings as "Mixing Colours" and simply "Colors."

    • At the beginning of the episode, Joe is wearing a green shirt and a yellow paint smock. He later changes into an orange shirt, saying that it's his favorite color. He changes back into his green shirt to be painted for the Portrait of Pals. Later, he's seen in yellow, then changes into red, before finally changing back into green at the end of the episode.

    • Mailtime Segment: Joe asks what Mailbox's favorite color is and Mailbox says that it's yellow, like our letter. In the letter, a group of kids play a game with colorful pictures. A kid calls out a color and then all of the other kids move to stand on top of a picture of that color.
