Joe greets us, saying that he's writing. We watch him write an "H," an "A" and a "T," making a label for the HAT that he's wearing. We find that Blue is making a label too. Seeing that she's already written "B" and "L," we watch finish it to make her name. To help her, Joe suggests that we write letters in the air using our finger. After Blue finishes the label, Joe reads the letters and sounds it out. In this episode, we have fun writing and reading labels and using our fingers to write letters in the air. We go upstairs to the attic and a find a character named "Marky." He's a marker and Joe suggests that we watch the letters he writes and then write them with our fingers. Then, after writing each letter, we and Joe use our bodies to imitate the shapes of the letters. Marky labels one box "TOYS" and another "CARS" and then leaves, but not before writing one last label: "CLUE." Later, we skidoo into an easel, where Joe finds himself wearing a smock and holding the largest paintbrush he's ever seen. A character named Palette shows up and says that she needs to write a word, but she's not sure how to write the letters. Since we've been writing letters in the air for a while now, we agree to help her out. We help her to write the letter "J," which Joe observes looks like a hook, or a slide. The letter "U" looks like a swing and an "M" looks kind of like mountains. Finally, a "P" resembles a flag. The letters are put together to form a word: "JUMP." Joe makes up a song number about it, noting once again how the different letters look a lot like actual things.
