Bomber Boys: The Fighting Lancaster

Show Summary

Bomber Boys: The Fighting Lancaster is a four-part military documentary series from writer and director Don Young and featuring interviews with Len Bawtree, Mike Chalk, Ernie Croteau, Joe English, Owen Fauvel, and many more veterans of the second World War who discuss what it was like to be a member of a Lancaster aircrew. The Avro Lancaster was the most famous and most-often successful heavy bomber in the British Royal Air Force. Operating one effectively required a large crew, a group of men who became brothers over the course of their training and battle experience. In this living history series, the life of a Lancaster crewman is explored not only through interviews with veterans, but also through advanced CGI animations. Additionally, the program follows the experiences of a group of young men who complete a full training regimen like the ones used during WWII to prepare Lancaster crews, revealing the grueling and stressful process these veterans had to endure just to prepare for the battles.moreless
