    Barbara, the Virginia City school teacher, is rescued by Adam from her classroom of hellions. Adam fills in for her, determined to teach the unruly kids the history of the Nevada territory. He receives an education himself, learning some uncomfortable secrets about the territory's leaders.

    A traveling medicine man, running from his past as a surgeon in his native England, encounters and befriends Hoss. The doctor must come to terms with what happened on an operating table back in London when a vengeful man whose wife died in surgery tracks him down. The man goes gunning for the doctor but mistakenly shoots Hoss, forcing the ex-doctor to practice medicine once more.

    Sweet old inventor Professor Phineas T. Klump, with help from from his grand-daughter Amanda, is determined to be the first man to fly. Against his better judgment, Hoss is talked into donning a pair of huge, feather-covered wings and jumping off a cliff.

    After watching livestock disappear, the cattleman's association hires a gunman to determine who is behind the recent thefts and make them stop. Adam fears the move will cause nothing but problems, and he's proven right when one of the cattleman's wife is killed.
