The 13th season premiere saw the end to the famous watercolor paintings over the ending credits that viewers had been accustomed to for Bonanza's first 12 years. That is, except for the last painting (with the actress standing on the stage). Now used are scrolling credits over that last painting, a format that would be used for the final 41 episodes (42 in syndicated reruns), starting with this one.
The show's opening theme, "The Big Bonanza," had a slightly different rendition, the impression being a slightly uptempo, heated theme.
