The watercolor prints would still be used for the opening episode title/producer/writer/director credit sequence following the first commercial break.

Charles Bail was credited as Chuck Bail. Rinko Mayumi was credited as Mary Mayumi.

The 13th season premiere saw the end to the famous watercolor paintings over the ending credits that viewers had been accustomed to for Bonanza's first 12 years. That is, except for the last painting (with the actress standing on the stage). Now used are scrolling credits over that last painting, a format that would be used for the final 41 episodes (42 in syndicated reruns), starting with this one.
