I saw this episode many years ago on CBN/The Family Channel and wondered whether I'd ever see it again because it was one of the "lost" episodes, later episodes that TV Land never acquired the rights to. Then I found it on You Tube.
A series of fires destroys a different part of Virginia City one by one, and Sheriff Coffey and Deputy Clem are in danger of losing their jobs unless they find the culprit, but they don't know where to start. They know it's arson, but have trouble finding anyone with a motive, until they settle on a former resident with an ax to grind. Meanwhile, Clem is engaged to be married to a beautiful young woman who was adopted by a well-to-do family. The young lady has a troubled past, with her natural mother dying early and her natural father blaming her and abusing her. She is haunted by the memories and finds a peculiar outlet for them.
Most people with tragic pasts rise above it and become productive citizens. Every once in a while, one slips through the cracks. A somewhat eerie episode, but hope springs eternal, and the town will rise from the ashes like a Phoenix
