Hoss would like to marry Margie Owens. Unfortunately she fells in Love with Conners, marries him and leaves Virginia City. Soon a sad Hoss got a visit from Margie's Father. Margie dissappeard and he begs Hoss to search for her in San Francisco.
The story is well scripted but very depressing and melancholic. Especially the characterizations of Conners and Margie are unusually dark and sinister. Interestingly the photography is fairly good in this episode and offers some beautiful pictures of landscapes. I love Dan Blocker but his mimic and gesture are too much in this episode. Also there is no real chemistry between Hoss and Margie (Kathie Browne). I never got the feeling that both are really in love with each other. So the divorce shouldn't be a surprise for the audience. Maybe this episode would better work rewritten for Adam. Funny Kathie Browne will appear in later episodes in a different role as love interest of Adam. If you are looking for a different Bonanza Episode this one could be for you. Instead of a feel good episode it's a sad one.
