Adam: Will, listen to me. Weeks ago my father tried to point out to me that I wasn't so much in love with Laura as I was with the idea of being married – of having a home. But I wouldn't listen to him. I was too intrigued with building that house – but these past few weeks of lying in bed and this wheelchair have given me a chance to realise that my father was right.
Joe: Just the same, I don't think it's fair to Laura. I really don't cause people who are engaged are supposed to miserable when they're not together all the time.
Scenes were filmed on location at Golden Oak Ranch, Newhall, California.
German episode title: "Adam baut ein Haus", meaning "Adam Builds a House".
Guy Williams was never warmly received by fellow cast members who felt the character was unnecessary. It's said that Michael Landon, in particular, felt threatened by the handsome actor. Will's departure was hastened by having him fall in love with Laura Dayton. Originally, the plan was to have Adam marry Laura and adopt little Peggy. This was the final appearance of both Will and Laura.
The fifth of five episodes featuring Will Cartwright.
