    me and my mom were wondering what building they show when they show the Jeffersonian, all i know is that they base it off the Smithsonian.

    please tell me if you know(:

    For future reference we have a Q&A Thread here on the Forum...But to answer your question, yes the exterior of it is supposed to be the Smithsonian...

    but the building they use for the exterior shots isn't actually one of the Smithsonian buildings. Hart said in the S1 DVD commentary that it's a museum in california somewhere. The natural history museum at UCLA, I think.

    Wow! Thanks for that sarastar...I always thought it was the Smithsonian...I think they base the Jeffersonian on the Smithsonian but it is good to know that it is actually another building entirely....

    yeah, it is based off the Smithsonian - there's a couple of episodes where they show the Jeffersonian magazine, and it's totally the same cover and font and everything as the Smithsonian magazine! But they don't ever actually send the actors to DC to film, and in the first couple of episodes there were a couple of scenes with them sitting on the steps of the building, or walking in the lawn, so it's not one of the actual DC buildings.
