  • sweets, booth, bones, april. Double date? Oh my.

Murdered, dumped in a mud pool and then found by a couple. Could this murder's dumping destination be any more unique? This is something I have never seen on another show, cutos the the writers for thinking up something original. Also a good point, that all they talk about is work.

A double date. Sweets and his fish-loving girlfriend and Booth and Bones. Who knew Booth could make such an awesome horse. Their "date" was a cute moment between the three and of course, April. I loved it when they started throwing the clay at each other. It was nice to learn that sweets likes to kill people in video games at night too. What a kid at heart.

Shocking age difference between Booth and Bones. I wouldn't have guessed five, but I suppose it is probably true. I loved this part of the episode, because Brennan was taking with April.

The ending was perfect. They were going to take Sweets to the Bowling "rink". I loved it when Booth dragged Sweets in his rolling chair. The moment when they were like "he's lying" about not knowing they were there, and then not wanting to sit down was so cute. Sweets was a great addition to the show. They made no mistake. He brings out so many cute Booth and Bones moments.

In this episode of Bones, the following happens. A young couple discover a body at Homestead Natural Hot Springs in a spring filled with mud. And so Bones and Booth are called in to investigate. When Booth and Bones go to see Sweets he tells them that he wants to see them together in a social situation and so he asks them both to go with him and his girlfriend. Kind of like a double date. Soon the body is IDed as that of Tripp Goddard, a sexy motorcycle racer, who hadn't been seen since he won a big race 2 weeks ago. Son we see the victim's bike being passed onto the 2nd best driver. As he drives, the bike won't slow down and soon he flips and the motorbike catches on fire and Danny dies. When they check out his bike, it has been rigged. The night of the double date arrives, and we see them all at a ceramics evening. But of course it doesn't go well, for Sweets and his girlfriend, April. Soon on the case, evidence points towards Danny's sister, as the killer. She soon admits to it, and she is arrested. We end with Booth and Bones together discussing the case and Sweets comes in and we learn that he and April have broken up. They are going out bowling and so they invite him along.
  • Interesting case and a fun double date.

Interesting dumping ground for a body and the bike storyline was enjoyable.

That mud is just nasty – who knows what could be in it? As our lovebirds found out. Aside from the dead body, there could be stones, metal, condoms, yuck!

Liked the story about the bikes, very nicely filmed too. The scene where the brother died was very well done. Not all the questions were answered, like what happened to the contract and how did a girl her size manage to get a body into the box in the very large 4x4 and then get it out again at the mudhole?

Liked the ceramic double date. Worked great for Booth and Brennan but not so well for Sweets and April. Booth's horse was beautiful.

Good episode, nice balance between the case and the stuff with Sweets.
  • Booth and Brennan double date? Sounds like fun!

I love how Booth and Brennan love to give Sweet a hard time and you know what? He seems to enjoy it.

Zack and Hodgins are great together. They're good colleagues but better friends. I see this is another episode where we don't have Angela and Hodgins honey moments that could be annoying.

The whole ceramics class scene was good to see. You have two examples of a good and a bad relationship. You see how easy things happen between Booth and Brennan and how forced words come out in Sweets and April's conversation. They actually seem to enjoy seeing B&B and somehow envy their chemistry.

The case was one of many caused by jealousy, envy and greed. But the cast's performance is worth watching any episode.

The last scene is very nice. You have B&B discussing the case, without arguing, looking very relaxed. Then Sweets shows up, dumped by April. And how nice was from them to ask him to join them. I mean, considering that sometimes they can't stand him or his sessions (although Brennan seemed to have enjoyed this one).

  • A vacuum after Santa in the Slush.

Man in the Mud as a follow-up on the christmas "kiss" episode felt a bit like a let-down.

I didn't expect declarations of eternal love or complete change in Bones and Booth's relationship, but somehow this episode felt kind of strange. The dynamic between our duo seemed off. There were no real memorable moments between them, which is usually not the case, especially this season.

What could have helped Man in the Mud would have been a strong murder case. But unfortunately that was not interesting and boring. There were to many shots of racing motorcycles for my taste.

Fortunately even a weak episode of Bones is still better than lots of things on TV.

But the quantity of rewatching this episode won't be very high in my case.
  • A big disappointment after santa in the slush

I must say there is not yet an episode of bones that i have been disappointed with as even if the plot lacks development there is always a classic booth/brennan moment. So there is always a aspect/s of the episode that are still very enjoyable. However santa in the slush went above and beyond this and it really was the best christmas present ever. This episode came months after this one aired and was anticipated for such a long time that upon viewing it, it was a large disappointment. It seemed very rushed and the storyline wasnt really resolved at the end and i couldnt really believe that was the end of the episode. Hopefully the episodes will get better here on after the writers strike.
  • A rather so-so episode padded out with a Sweet sub-plot which didn't work.

Another body is found - this time in a mud pool in the woods. Within a flash our heroes were on the scene (probably because no-one thought to call the local police!). Here we have a major plot hole. Shouldn't the investigators have searched for clues in the woods for traces as to how the body was brought there? But no they all tramp around the area destroying all possible evidence.

We then get Angela doing her face reconstruction on the skull - always a debatable method in my view. But here not only does she get the face right, she also picks the correct hair colour and the correct hair style. Clever that. This allows Booth to say "that's Tripp Goddard!" If only identifying dead bodies was so easy in real life!

We then have the Sweets sub-plot, which personally is boring to me. I'm afraid that John Francis Daley isn't really a very good actor. He's very good at flashing his teeth - but that's about all. The 'pottery' section although mildly amusing only showed the paucity of the Tripp murder story.

I must have missed Temperance actually joining the FBI since she seemed to spend all her time in this episode working for them either as an investigator or interrogator. I mistakenly though she was a forensic anthropologist. Don't know why!

All the remaining plot dealt with the place of work of Tripp Goddard - and without any real evidence (it was actually all speculation) they found the killer. No real surprise there!

So all in all - a pleasant piece of fluff, hardly a well crafted piece crime fighting.
  • How cool was ll that race footage. OUCHHHH!!!!!

Dude, where did they find the stunt guys to wreck those bikes like that!?? I hurt just watching it. I don't know if I could, for even a million bucks, be talked into slamming my bike down onto the pavement. It just seems to me that there is a very large margin of error and one could end one's career very quickly. I think maybe stunt men have an extra chromosome in the "i don't register fear or reality" strand of the DNA double helix. This episode was a great action/crash packed return from the reruns we were forced to watch during the strike. LOVE IT!!!
  • Gah! I loved this episode! A great post-strike episode!

I loved "Man in the Mud" I'm not going to lie, it was a great way to jump back into the show. I was a huge fan! I loved the tension between Booth and Bones, and Sweets just adds to it, it was subtle but you could pick up on the awkward "Christmas Kiss" attitude between them. He was so startled when Sweets suggested a double date to prove they could not talk about work during their 'out of office' time. Not to mention the ceramic scene was amazing! I loved that Booth had talent in it and it truely surprised Brennan. Then for her to be intrested April's job and brings them to a fight? sucka! Booth throwing the clay at her and ruining her vase. . .that made me chuckle!

Ok about the case, ewww swimming naked in mud? Ok Zack was the king of the lab for that week because he solved the letters on the pen, holy freaking geeze how smart is that kid? Who'd a thought it was this sister though? I mean in Player under Pressure, I caught that one, but this one it took me awhile. The lady, whose been around for awhile, the one who is the FBI chick who was all sweet over the Bike and in reality figured out why the guy died. . .

All in all I really loved this episode and has to add to my top five. . .
  • After the kiss...

Bones is back, I missed this show so much.

So they aired this episode first because it was right after the kiss, BUT no mention to it. Well I still hope Angela will find out about it sometime.

The case wasn't interesting enough for me, I don't know maybe I don't like the bike world much or the characters weren't that convincing (Say Hi to Tom from Lost :P).

It was pretty obvious in this ep. how fine tunned BB are with each other. Watch an ep. from season one now and it will shock you to remember how they didn't get along that well in the past.

I missed the squints, Hodgins and Zack interaction looked a little forced in the "drop the bars" scene. No funny experiments either.

The therapy sections are still very good, it always reveals something more about BB relationship. Not to mention the mud scene.

And the ending, I was hoping it wouldn't be a BB fluff scene 'cause we can't have one every time, it'll get old. So Sweets joining at the end fit perfectly and it's clear now he became a squint.

So that's it. I'm just glad I can watch new eps. again.
  • Getting into..

So, over the long brake, Bones is back.. and the episode looks so good because of that - all those old faces, those familiar situation, the humor they have there. It is great.

They are up with catching story what takes us into the world of motorbike racing. A little mod, metal and two deaths leads to question - who is the killer? We have an excitement road to the solution. And even if the case seems to be on the main focus, the other really strong storyline was the therapy and what leads from there - to Lance and his own relationship, his own life.

So, we had it all here but... I still feel something is missing...

Great to see the team return with yet another brilliant episode, full of twist and turns.

It seems so long since our last Bones fix but with the writers strike sorted we can now ( hopefully ) sit back and enjoy the show.

This weeks episode involved Bones and Booth investigating a body found in a mud filled spring, the body turns out to be a star motorcycle racer and all fingers point to his arch rival but when his arch rival is also killed in a freak motorcycle accident ( which turns out to be deliberate rather than an accident ) Booth and Bones need to search else where for the murderer.

What I really enjoyed about this episode was the Bones, Booth, sweets and his girlfriend scenes when they were at the ceramics course, felt sorry for sweets when his G/F left him at the end.
  • Bones is back and make no bones about it - it's still awesome.

Booth and Bones are back and better than ever. This episode focuses on the death of a motorcycle racer whose remains are found in a mud pit. The story line was interesting and unique. It had me guessing almost all the way to the end. In particular, I loved the scenes with M.C. Gainey who played the attorney, Braxton Smalls. Now that he's been killed off from Lost, maybe he'll become a regular on this show. His witty lines were perfectly delivered.

O.K. now let's talk about the best part of the episode. The ceramics class with Bones, Booth, Sweets and his girlfriend, April. The dialogue between April and Bones was hilarious. April, whose very earthy, wants to talk about the souls of her fish and Bones is completely concrete and rational. When I first saw the bandana on Booth's head I had to laugh, then I thought, damn he still looks good. The bickering between Sweets and April was great. But BEST OF ALL, did you see Booth's horse??? When they started throwing the clay it was the icing on the cake. Welcome back Bones!

The excitement of a new Bones did a lot to endure this one in my mind but after all is said and done it's a typically fun day in Bones land. Focusing on Booth, Breenan, and Sweets sessions we get a lot of relationship one liners. We also got to see into Sweets life and his Earthy girl friend. The relationship ended and this gave us a great seen with Booth and Breenan taking a depressed Sweets bowling. The case itself was an odd jumble in my opinion it just served to give us the relationship stories. The reasoning was weak but nice to see a baddie from Lost as the defense attorney. Good typical Bones episode glad the show is back but not with a bang so far sadly.
  • I classified this as character development mainly because of Lance, I found out a bit home about him. This case could be better but there were a lot of great scenes lol

I was waiting for something more.

Let's see, a young couple gets into a natural mud bath and she grabs a hand but not his date hand.

This episode has a lot of funny scenes and a few action ones. I loved the ones with Brennan, Booth and Sweets. The session, the one at the ceramics class. Booth has a hidden talent to make horses lol That one was great.

April was nice but I knew it wasn't going to last, that discussion they had at the class was an indication. Poor Lance, he got crushed.

I was kind of sad, they didn't brought up the kiss thing, we have a few indirect line about it but nothing conclusive. The motorcycle crash was a big one, flames all over. It was well done but has I read in some reviews, the outcome was obvious from the moment you get to know the suspects. I'm not saying it's that is bad but they could have turned it around a bit.

Anyway, I love this show and I'm waiting for the next episode next week. Hopefully there are more Bones/Booth news.
  • Not the greatest episode in the show, but for sure a great episode to come back from the strike.

Not the greatest episode in the show, but for sure a great episode to come back from the strike. Not bad at all. This episode is filled with the typical stuff. Kings of the lab, or so they think. Tention between Booth and Bones, Sweets being Sweets, and the bad guys getting what they deserve. Funny episode, with Booth and Bones going out to do ceramics with Sweets and his girlfriend not ex girlfriend. Booth clearly has made a horse before with clay, and oh fish have souls, just don't tell Bones that... She'll tell you otherwise. Good Episode as always.
  • An interesting episode/case though the culprit was pretty much obvious from the get-go. The character-centric scenes were fun though!

    9.3
    "Superb"
Wing Hauser! And Channon Roe from The Kindred! And Abigail Spencer from Angela's Eyes! Awesome!

I loved Hodgins and Zack in the lab. How Zack kept dropping the pipes until Hodgins told him to drop them all and just select ONE!

I loved Cam in this episode. Once she stopped pining after Booth, she turned out to be an awesome character. And so beautiful too!

Angela and baseball! XD Angela flirting with Hodgins... *flails*

Sweets was great in this episode. The last scene, where Booth dragged him off in the chair! Wah, so funny :)

Bones and Sweets' girlfriend talking about fish XD

Oh, and I loved what Booth did with the murderer, how he arrested her to let everybody know what she did, even if it couldn't stick. For once, the cop/agent didn't turn out to be all understanding and nice. No, she did it and he will make her pay, however he can. That was great!
  • A couple out for a romantic night of bathing in mud filled hot springs makes a disturbing discovery when the woman finds a skeletal hand in the mud pool with them. Also we learn more about Dr. Lance Sweets.

    7.0
    "Good"
While I am ecstatic that Bones is back on the air, this episode was a little boring for my taste. Despite that, I have gone with a character development in the classification. This is the second episode where John Francis Daley (the actor that plays Dr. Lance Sweets) appears in the opening credits. Also we see the introduction (and dismissal) of Dr. Sweets' girlfriend and the first time that Sweets, Booth and Brennan do something socially, something that does not involve Dr. Sweets "shrinking" them or evaluating them. (and I'm talking about the bowling not the pottery class).

We now see that Dr. Sweets is going to have a more involved role in the show, whether this is permanent or they are just going to kill him off at the end of the season has yet to bee seen.
  • Good fun episode with the question again being asked if there is anything between Bones and Booth. And we see a rather racey side of one of the FBI agents and her love of anything on wheels that has a very fast motor attached to it.

    9.3
    "Superb"
Starts off with the usual dead body being found in an unusual location, but gets more interesting when fast bikes, family and money are added to the mix. Sweets and his girlfriend get some air time in this episode and the girlfriend and Bones actually have a woman to woman talk where, speaking in their own dialects ie anthropoligically and fishy, fully understand each other. Rather interesting. If you like fast motorbikes then this episode will interest you as well.

Also we get to meet an female FBI agent who has a real love of fast cars, bikes and machinery. She was very convincing in her role in this episode and it would be good if whenever the team need a vehicle or motor person she becomes their expert. When Booth, Bones, Sweets and his girlfriend go to a pottery class we learn that Booth has an afinity with clay, head scarves and wears a smock to keep his clothes clean - but we guessed that anyway. Bones looks good in 60's and 70's shirts and can make a great pot. And Sweets and his girlfriend might just need to do a bit more to keep their relationship on the move in a positive way.

Great episode. Funny in parts but the right mix of good writing and science.
  • Bones is back on the air!

    8.9
    "Great"
Finally Bones is back on the air and with a great new episode in which a new character is introduced. As the team investigates the murder of a motorcycle rider as his body is found. His body was there for two weeks after a motorcycle race as the team must find a motive and time is running out. A new character by the name of Sweets has arrived and that he really seems like a nice person. Even Bones and Booth allow him to tag along with them. When April, his girlfriend breaks up with him. Bones and Booth in order to cheer up Sweets, ask him to go bowling with them. Really good show as I like Sweets so far. Hope that he gets more time to develop.
  • The reason why I put this under character development was because, Sweets is now being added to the gang and this episode really brought the three closer. He knew he was having problems and decided to bring work with him. Booth and Brennan...

    9.8
    "Superb"
Oh the excitement once Bones returned...but on to the episode. :D The mystery was a good one, didn't pull me in as much but it was good enough. It brought more of the characters together, getting involved. It was sad that the killer was let loose and wasn't given the proper punishment, but that's life, we can't always put the bad-guys away. The reason why I put this under character development was because, Sweets is now being added to the gang and this episode really brought the three closer. He knew he was having problems and decided to bring work with him. Booth and Brennan both tagged along on the most adorable date. loll The throwing the goop at eachother was so adorable, and how much fun the two were having showed allot to Sweets how they can reenact between eachother without work always on their minds. The episode ends with April dumping Sweets and both Brennan and Booth invite him to go bowling. Thus for the chracter development, I feel this episode was to welcome Sweets to the team, and I say welcome also.

i was so ready for bones to come back and today was the day..yes this has been a very long anticipated ep and it did not disappoint me at all..the case was excellent and we got some great bb moments..brennan is funny as ever and someone actually thought she was funny? thats a first lol..i love how angela fit her personality well in this w/ the i know motorcycle stuff too lol and softball..the case was so realistic and took me for all its twists and turns..i really thought the motorcycle guy did it..but did he? oo a spoiler..well not really lol..its really amazing what u can do w/ forensics and i was mad when they didnt get the person but it was a very interesting case and they were all so excellent..altho booth was temperamental..i was psyched when i heard about the double date thing on the commercial..im like oh yeah and that was so awesome..booth and brennan were having tons of fun..throwing clay at each other and laughing and having a good time..oh my gosh..booth in that headband thing was too hilarious..i felt so bad for sweets tho..he and his gf broke up but after seeing them together it was obvious that it was only a matter of time..and booth made a horsey and i laughed when he was playing w/ it lol..o and brennan covering for booth in therapy was too cute..oh and when that guy asked brennan out booth immediately jumped up and was like shes not going out on a date w/ u..i dont know about u but i detected a little jealousy there and i know im right so dont tell me im wrong..it was so cute and i think brennan liked it in a way..and then they talked about the "thing" and i thought it was the kiss but there was no reference made to the kiss which upset me a little i mean after all this time of waiting but the bb action we did get is like my second fav so far..m/b next well advance further from the kiss and angela will find out..i lvoe how april kind of thought something was going on btw booth and brennan and she did pick up on their vibe..i mean who couldnt other than booth and brennan of course..and she played a good part in the bb moments kind of bringing them close together..and i learned something interesting..theres an age difference btw brennan and booth..how completely interesting..that makes it better..and theyre not exactly young and in love theyre just in love even tho they fight their feelings..its all just a cover up..they both enjoyed the kiss and they have fun together..i loved booths uneasiness w/ the ceramics class but when he got in there he made a horsey lol..i think his attitude about that kind of affected him a little too much when he was working on the case but he was a lot mellower after he did the ceramics so in a way it calmed his nerves..ok cam..hate her..she didnt do anything wrong in this ep but what do i care..its almost like she wants booth back in some ways..i dont know i just picked up a little vibe that way..i may have been the only one..tell me if i wasnt..m/b it was just my hatred of her making me see things in a new perspective..i dont know...ok angela was awesome like i said before she came back w/ her kick butt personality and i am not just a girly girl attitude..and i love how booth was so speechless..he really didnt think she knew anything about that subject..brennan didnt..but angela showed him and i was proud of her..go women..this was a very empowering ep as well for the little parts angela did have in it lol...ok hodgins and zack are still fighting for king of the lab and i liked how they brought that back..but then cam shot them down..they were so disheartened..i felt bad for them..hodgins..oh man why did he have to cut his hair..and hes not even being the same hodgins we know w/ his govt talk..he barely does that anymore..what is up? and zacks hair..why wont it grow back..i want it back..and i thik we should hear more about iraq..they act like it never happened..but he still has his awkwardness and his mm thing where he kind of either disagrees or is like no theres more to it..so zack is still the same and i hope he never changes..hes an awkward young fellow who is brilliant..love him to death..ok real wuick going back to boothgoo..i see a little blonde tint in his hair and i like it..i think its awesome..he looks hotter than ever w/ it..go the new look of booth..i like so much..brennan was her usual self w/ her awkwardness in a social situation..she just totally ruined it w/ april..i felt bad about that and im like brennan i know u want to say something but dont..u already made her sound like a little lunatic..so dont do anything else..like brennan just has to challenge ppl and when lance and april had a fight i was like brennan sweetie just dont comment on it u gotta let them work it out themselves that is the only way but brennan pushed a little further..o and the one liners tonite..how great were they..booth got some good ones in on sweet..and i love the confusion of the one guy who showed on scene when they first heard about the man in the mud..shes serious about taking all the mud? so funny and so classic brennan..i loved it..and there were some things that were implied about sex in this..that one time in the therapy room and other discrete things..lol..i love it..its so funny..and then i love how booth talks about the therapist in general..wow hes not getting any tonite lol..poor guy..that was sweet at the end tho b/c they seem to have bonded a little even tho sweets is pretty much the center of all of booths jokes..ok i think i spoiled it enough for everyone..enjoy the ep and ill stop now lol

Bones is BACK! And in grand style too. I don't know who wrote this one, but they need to be patted on the back. This episode was full of the chemistry, one-liners, dark humor, and social ineptitude that endeared the crew to us in the first place. Favorite moments include the ceramics session with Dr. Sweets and his girlfriend, and the initial counseling session with Sweets. Also really enjoyed the "woman to woman" discussion Sweets' girlfriend April had with Bones. All in all, a great way to start off the remainder of the season. Let's hope the rest of them in season three are this good!
