Booth: I was mad. I lost you and Christine for three months. I'm never gonna be able to get that time back.
Brennan: I have a way to fix that.
Booth: Oh, you have a time machine in your basement?
(Brennan evaluates a charred corpse at the crime scene.)
Brennan: Based on the nasal root and the brow ridge, the victim is a Caucasian ma Don't step in the brain, Booth.
Booth: Brain? Oh, what?!
Hodgins: Oh, it's nice, huh? All of us back together again?
Booth: That's not nice. There's brain on my shoe.
Cam: Let me bag it.
Booth: Bag my shoe?
Cam: Yeah, you can hop.
Hodgins: Yeah, I've missed this.
Brennan: (to Booth) I love you. I'm willing to do irrational things to prove it.
Brennan: We don't usually kiss in front of people, but we had a disagreement.
Finn: You already had the fight?
Finn: And that was the two of you making up after the fight you already had?
Brennan: I don't understand your tone of incredulity.
Finn: Oh, no, ma'am, it's just when my mom and my stepdad used to get all polite, like the two of you were just then, that meant all hell was gonna break loose.
Finn: I have to say, ma'am, I've sure missed working with you.
Brennan: I imagine you have.
Finn: Although I'm sure Agent Booth has missed you more.
Brennan: Is this helping the case, Mr. Abernathy?
Finn: No, ma'am, I'm just appreciating the Good Lord's work getting you back.
Brennan: If God was involved in our lives, these cases wouldn't be so hard to solve.
Finn: I'm not so sure about that. Without a challenge, you wouldn't know how brilliant you are.
Brennan: Is everything all right?
Booth: Oh, you know, I just don't like being in a divorce lawyer's office, that's all.
Booth: Well, 'cause it reminds me that things, you know, fall apart.
Brennan: (chuckles) Well, it's a good thing we're not married, right?
Booth: You are not a very reassuring person, Bones.
Finn: What is that? Gold?
Cam: Looks like a
Hodgins: Fleur-de-lis. It's a sign of the Priory of Sion, a secret society that defies Papal Authority.
Angela: Honey, honey that's the nib of a fountain pen.
Finn: He was stabbed in the neck with a fountain pen?
Hodgins: Yeah, or assassinated by the Pope.
Cam: Or stabbed in the neck with a fountain pen.
Cam: Well, pathology is a lot like football.
Finn: I need a helmet?
Cam: No, when in doubt, ignore the pain and plow ahead scientifically.
"To Fight Is to Lose" by Mia Dyson (D.C. at night fades to Booth in the kitchen)
The end of this episode had a dedication card sequenced before the end credits that read, "In Memory of our good friend Michael Clarke Duncan, 1957-2012". Michael played lead character Leo Knox in the Bones spinoff The Finder. Duncan died on September 3, 2012, some seven weeks after suffering a heart attack. On September 5 The Hollywood Reporter transcribed a conversation between Hart Hanson and Lesley Goldberg in which Hanson related plans to bring Duncan back into the Bones world in another crossover episode.
On August 2, 2012, E! Online reported that this episode's title was "The Parents in the Divorce." Fox's September 12, 2012, press release used the current title. Left unanswered was whether the first was a working title or simply bad reporting.
