  • Why do the writers keep making Booth a complete jerk?

    4.5
I've been trying to stick out watching the show because I liked the characters, but lately the characters have been so poorly served by the writing that they aren't even remotely the same any more. In this episode Booth was so nasty to the dad that I was appalled out how heavy-handed and poorly-served Booth's character was written.

I get the point - Booth herself would seem strange and non-feeling by people who didn't know her if they encountered her when she was grieving - but why showcase it so poorly by making Booth act like such jerk to the dad?

This problem isn't just limited to this episode either. Booth's character has taken a sharp downhill turn as the seasons have progressed. His character has been degraded into a judge-mental, self-righteous, religious-spewing blowhard. I can take only a tiny bit of that coloring in contrast to Brennan's character, but it's been over-the-top bad of late.moreless
  • Amazing performance by Richard Schiff

I really wish that an actor like Richard Schiff got more work. His work as the grieving father was absolutely amazing.

I enjoyed the episode! It showed "Bones" truly understanding another character's intellect and supporting and believing in his innocence!!!
  • Bones writers, keep it going!

    9.0
I completely agree with the previous review! This episode was more like the classic Bones I enjoy, not too over the top in anything (Bones behavior or weird/shocking stuff).

I hope the writers and Hart Hanson keep it up, I know the show has been around for almost 10 years, but it would be unfortunate if it just dwindles into crap..

Looking forward to January's episodes, and hoping for the best!moreless
  • this is the bones i love

    9.5
finally a great episode again!! I was about to give up on the show forever, too much focus on making the first scene as gross as possible,

too much weird stuff, like the insect in Hodgins neck,

Brennan almost became a caricature of herself and they were going over the top with her imo

but this episode, she was back to being the person I love! great how she empathized with the father and all their scenes together were truly wonderful and in character

the final scene was so touching, I cried..

hope they can keep up with episodes like this!moreless

    • Arastoo: Are you really gonna do it?
      Cam: What?
Arastoo: Up the charges against her.
      Cam: Absolutely. Why?
Arastoo: I thought maybe I had some effect on you.
Cam: I'm sorry I'm not a saint. I still can't get a credit card. I get an allowance from a court-appointed accountant like a child, and I don't want to talk about this anymore.
Arastoo: I was persecuted in Iran. I lost my home. My cousin was killed so I have an idea of what it means to want vengeance. And I held on to that anger. I became that anger until that's all I was. Until I decided to let it go, and realize that sometimes the world is an unjust place that we have to accept. If I didn't decide to forgive I wouldn't have the life I have now. I wouldn't be able to have you.
Cam: Well, I guess we now know who the good person in this relationship is.

    • Sweets: I just think that we should approach this case like any other and focus on only the facts, nothing else.
Brennan: Your entire profession is based on subjectivity. Facts haven't even entered into your process before.
      Sweets: That's a gross oversimplification.

    • Cam: What?
Arastoo: (referring to her identity theft case) You won. All evidence shows that the first step in healing is forgiveness.
      Cam: I'm more of a wrath-and-vengeance type.
