The episode starts off in a restaurant on "open mic night." A bunch of people are singing different songs, trying to impress the audience. Then Tommy Sour gets on stage and sings "Far Away" by Nickelback. While he is singing he keeps looking at this girl, trying to impress her, but the guy that is with her is clearly not happy about it at all. After Tommy sings Chris Calabasa, another regular, is up next and he is forced to sing "Piano Man" because Tommy stole the song that he wanted to sing. After Chris starts singing we see a guy sitting in a booth in the back of the restaurant put up his fist congratulating Tommy.
The scene cuts to Cam, Booth, and Bones looking at a body in a field. The entire time Cam and Bones are looking at the decomposing body Booth is sneezing and claims to have allergies. While Cam and Bones are looking at the body Booth is questioning the guy who found the body. He says he ran over it and stopped when he heard crunching. Bones then cuts in and asks the guy who found the body if he knew where the head was, but he doesn't know. Booth and Bones go over to the guy's tractor and look inside it - they find the head wedged in it with bugs covering it.
Back in the Jeffersonian Zack, Cam, and Angela are looking at the body, trying to figure out the identity of the person. Cam then figures out that the person had a cold because she found what appears to be tea, honey, and a throat lozenge in his stomach. Just after Cam says that Hodgins walks in saying "Wow" and tells them that the watch the dead person was wearing was a "very cool watch," and Cam replies by saying that he was a jock.
Angela then starts talking about seeing buff guys at the gym and saying that they all are jocks. Zack then tells them his work out plan and adds "I'm exceptionally strong." Cam replies that she is deceived. A few moments later Angela discovers that the dead body is Tommy Sour and adds that he went missing 2 weeks ago.
In the next scene we see Booth and Bones knocking on someone's door but there is no answer so Bones suggests that Booth should break down the door. Booth replies that it hurts his shoulder when he breaks down doors. The entire time an alarm is going off somewhere in the house. A few seconds later a guy opens the door and tells them that he couldn't hear them because he had his ear plugs in. He lets them in and we can see a bunch of paintings and sculptures. He tells them that he is an artist and is having a show in a few weeks.
Bones comments on one of his paintings and the guy says that she shouldn't even look at it because "it's crap." Then he goes off on how the alarm has been going off every 2 minutes for quite awhile and that it has been annoying him so he can't really focus on his artwork. Booth interrupts him by telling him that Tommy Sour is dead and he says that he didn't really know the guy, but he started seeing his mail piling up and the alarm kept going off so he reported that he was missing.
Booth then starts questioning him, asking if he's noticed any strangers coming to Tommy's house. He tells Booth that there is one and her name is "Fat Pam." He then says that she was one of Tommy's clients and Booth gets confused because he just said that he didn't really know him that well. He replies by saying that they used to talk a little while they were taking their trash out and claims that's what normal neighbors do.
He then says that Tommy was "Fat Pam's" trainer and Bones wonders why he calls her "Fat Pam," but he claims that's what Tommy calls her. Then he says that Tommy wasn't that nice and says that Pam wasn't even that fat. Bones then corrects him by saying "you mean overweight" and tops it off by telling him the definition of fat and that he used the wrong word. Him and Booth give her a weird look, then he continues by saying that "Fat Pam" used to follow Tommy home and became almost like a stalker.
In the next scene we are back in the Jeffersonian and we see Zack and Cam looking at the bones of Tommy, trying to figure out what killed him. Zack claims that there are lacerations on his neck that look like a cheese slicer could have killed him.
Next we see Booth and Bones at the wellness center where Tommy used to work as a personal trainer. Booth keeps starting at the women on the workout machines and Bones gets a little jealous. She claims that Booth is staring at her body but Booth claims that he isn't. The owner of the wellness center, who's named Jason, comes out and wants to know what is going on. Booth tells him that Tommy is dead but Jason doesn't seem to upset. He tells Booth that he has been having to deal with a lot of angry clients of Tommy's and was getting annoyed with him, and he hasn't been coming to work lately.
Booth asks Jason if he knew "Fat Pam" and he says that he did. He tells Booth and Bones that she was a good client until she started to become obsessed with Tommy, and she even fell in love with him. Then Booth asks for her phone number and Jason goes to get it while Booth goes back to staring at the women. Bones hits his arm and tells him this isn't helping the investigation.
Next we see Booth and Bones questioning Pam Nunan - Fat Pam. She brought a photo album of pictures of Tommy but they are all pictures that she took from a distance. That leads to Bones asking Pam if Tommy shared her affections, which makes Pam get angry. She claims that just because she doesn't look like a scarecrow like Bones does ... which makes Bones angry as well. After a little while Booth tells Pam that Tommy is dead.
In the next scene we see Pam in an interrogation room with Bones and Dr. Sweets. Sweets is using his skills to figure out if Pam is the one that killed Tommy. Booth then comes in to the interrogation room and claims that Tommy didn't love Pam back. The camera then goes back to Sweets saying that Pam might have killed Tommy. After a few more minutes of Booth questioning Pam she tells him that she has been in Florida with her parents planning the wedding. Then she gets upset because she doesn't know who is going to love her. Booth feels sorry for her and touches her shoulder while we can hear Sweets saying not to touch her.
In the next scene Sweets says that Pam probably didn't kill Tommy but is indeed dangerous. Booth starts to mock him, and right before Sweets leaves he tells them to be careful around her.
Cam tells Bones that there was e. coli in Tommy's system and it occurred soon after his death. She then said it came from the same place he used to sing at. Booth and Bones decide to go to the restaurant to see open mic night.
At the restaurant Booth asks a guy to point out the manager and Booth and Bones start to talk to him. The manager says that Tommy was really good and everybody loved him, but he did say that he saw Tommy leave with Chris Calabasa. He also said that they were arguing since Tommy stole the song he was going to sing. Booth and Bones then decide to go talk to Chris.
After they talk to Chris they discover that he didn't kill Tommy, because he wanted to talk to the talent scout that was there. When Booth goes to talk to the talent scout he discovers that he is a fake but he didn't kill Tommy, and neither did the manager. As Booth and Bones are leaving we see Pam taking pictures of Booth.
In the lab Hodgins and Zack are talking about how they both need the bones. Zack then says that he can sing and is really good but Hodgins doesn't believe him. Zack starts to sing and everyone comes to listen to him, since he's really good.
In the next scene Booth and Bones are talking about how both of them are the best in their fields and Booth claims that Bones thinks that she is better, but Bones says she isn't. While thay are talking Pam calls and wants to meet with Booth alone, so he agrees to meet with her in a half hour.
We see Pam and Booth talking, and Pam asks if Booth and Bones are dating, but Booth says they aren't. Pam decides to buy Booth a pair of socks and tells him Tommy wouldn't want her to stay in the past.
In the next scene Booth, Bones, and Sweets are talking about Tommy's singing. During their conversation Bones says that she can sing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" better than Cyndi Lauper. Sweets and Booth don't believe her so they tell her to sing it, but she says that it isn't the appropriate setting. Sweets then interrupts them and sees the guy who was angry that Tommy was singing to his girl, and Bones says that a guitar string is the thing that killed him.
Bones then has Hodgins and Zack reenact the death scene and they all discover that could have been the murder weapon, so Booth goes to talk to the guy and he tells him that Jason, the owner of the wellness center, could be the killer. When they go to talk to Jason he is gone. After they find him and start to question him he claims that they don't really have enough evidence against him.
Hodgins comes in and tells them that there was clay on Tommy's body and they figure out that it was Tommy's neighbor that killed him. Booth and Bones then go back to the neighbor's house to look for the murder weapon. Bones finds a wire and tests it to se if there is any blood on it. There was blood on the wire so Booth arrests him.
At the end of the episode everyone is at the restaurant and wants to hear Bones sing. She decides to go up there and sing. While she is singing Booth can't stop looking at her. We then see Pam walk in. She wants Booth to look at her instead of Bones but he isn't, so she takes out a gun and tells Booth that she is killing Bones for them. Booth gets up and blocks the bullet from hitting Bones. Bones then picks up Booth's gun and shoots Pam in the neck, then tries to help Booth, who is badly injured.
