this show made richard greico a star. his character was fired from 21 jumpstreet which made this show happen. it was pretty good, with a cool billy idol theme song, the show works really well. from time to time people from 21 jumpstreet appears in this show to help out dennis booker. this show is a good crime fighting show that reverberates good shows from the 80s like the equalizer. booker stands on its own. even though the show didn't go for that long, the show wasn't so bad, it's entertaining, it doesn't bore you. it's a pretty good show.
As a spin-off from \\\"21 Jump Street,\\\" \\\"Booker\\\" found its own style immediatly. The cop-in-a-corporate-world scenario was great since it was two worlds colliding with Booker in the middle. He withstood the challenge and changed the perceptions
The one episode that appears on the \\\\\\\"21 Jump Steet\\\\\\\" season 4 collection helped me remember the characters who did not seem to be stereotypes. Their motivations for their actions became clearer; I had wanted to see where the producers would take it the next year. I hope the producers chose to distribute the series on DVD as a companion to the \\\"21 Jump Street\\\" series since it was a spin-off AND there are character cross-overs. Drama shows with a touch of comedy are rare now; that humor made \\\"Booker\\\" seem so enjoyable as something beyond just a cop drama.
Any fan of Jumpstreet should be lobbying to have this series released on dvd. Booker was a great escape every sunday night, with traditional themes. The rebel who doesn't fit in, the tough guy with the heart of gold...
Any fan of Jumpstreet should be lobbying to have this series released on dvd. Booker was a great escape every sunday night, with traditional themes. The rebel who doesn't fit in, the tough guy with the heart of gold. I read somewhere that the company releasing the Jumpstreet seasons was different than the one that owns the rights to this show. If it doesn't come out it will be a sad end to the collection. If you haven't seen it, try and find any copy of any episode you can. If you can be picky, try finding the episode where he helps out the ex who broke him, you'll have a new appreciation for Aaron Neville's "Tell it like it is".
Booker was the spin-off for Richard Grieco's "Booker" charecter from 21 Jump St. Booker stole the show and was rewarded with his own Fox T.V. spot. It follows the adventures of Dennis Booker who, having lost his badge, signs on as a P.I. with a Japanese
Why did this show fail? I have no idea. It was smart, cool, funny, hip etc. What other show could make the recovery of B.B. King's guitar "Lucille" a central story point? In 1990 when I read in the paper that Booker had been cancelled, I taped the rest of the summer reruns which I still have. Would love to see it on DVD. This was Richard Grieco when he was still on the rise and believe me it is worth watching.
