Take a Dive was a fantastic season finale of Bored to Death. I really enjoyed watching because there was a lot of character growth and plot development. The action, drama and intrigue added to the success of story telling for this episode. I liked how everything played out and I certainly look forward to watching what happens next!!!!!!!!!

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Journalist: Richard challenged you because you wrote, among other things, that he had the penis of a hermaphrodite.
George: That was sloppy journalism. I, uhm-- I do want to apologize to any hermaphrodites who may have been insulted by an unflattering comparison.

    • Hamm: (in an interview prior to the boxing match) I'm looking forward to being punched. Uhm, I've never actually practiced S&M, but I've always wanted to and-- and, you know, this seems like a really good opportunity.

    • George: [Priscilla] was like a cat. She'd never come to me when I-- when I wanted her to.
Ray: That's why I like dogs.

    • Sal: I lost my virginity in the fifth grade.
      Ray: What was his name?
      Sal: Father Francis.

    • George: I want to thank both of you for supporting me in this whole thing. I know it's delusional behavior, but... it's important to me.
      Ray: I like being delusional.
Jonathan: Yeah, me too! We're delusional together.

    • Stella: I'm really glad that you could hang out. There was this pollen in the air today that smelled like kissing. Do you know that smell?
Jonathan: Yeah, I love that smell. (kisses Stella)

    • Richard: (chuckles) Oh, look, it's the losing team.
George: Yeah, we're not supposed to see each other until the fight.
Richard: What is this, a wedding? I can't see you in your dress?

    • Jonathan: Sal, I suddenly feel scared.
Sal: That's normal. All fighters are scared. But once you get in the ring, you're like a God.
      (Jonathan enters the ring)
      Jonathan: But I'm agnostic.
Sal: I'll say a prayer for you.

    • (after Jonathan's fight)
Stella: You were amazing! I'm so proud of you.
Jonathan: Do you want to come over tonight and celebrate?
Stella: I can't. I already have a urinary tract infection. I always get them after I have sex. I don't know why.

    • Jonathan: Do you think we learned anything tonight?
George: No. (pauses) But that's okay. It's good to stay in the dark about things. It keeps life interesting.
Jonathan: George, I'm glad you're in my life.
George: I'm glad you're in mine, Jonathan.

    • Episode writer Jonathan Ames' two-fight career as an amateur boxer is chronicled in essays included in his books, My Less Than Secret Life, I Love You More Than You Know, and The Double Life Is Twice As Good.

    • Jonathan: They say that the pen is mightier than the sword...

This is an oft-quoted line from Edward Bulwer-Lytton's play Richelieu; Or the Conspiracy. It is spoken by Cardinal Richelieu in Act II Scene II: "Beneath the rule of men entirely great, / The pen is mightier than the sword. Behold / The arch-enchanters wand! - itself a nothing! -".

    • George: I think that we've entered a third act... despite what Fitzgerald says about there being no second acts in life.

American novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald's exact line reads: "There are no second acts in American lives."
