This was a brilliant episode, and certainly one of the best written so far. The humour and drama were spot on.
We get to see the darker, more troubled side of Alan Shore (I didn't see him in The Practise). The way he acted was quite despicable but also addictive viewing. Alan clearly has some issues, and we can see that in his final scene with Sally, when the couple part ways. I think Alan did have a point- Sally isn't cut out for the nastiness of law. Nevertheless, its clear Alan is a troubled soul- his scenes with Paul were funny but tense.
Denny, as usual, provided some good comic relief.
Lori's case was also poignant, as she comes to care for a man who commited a horrible crime. Edwins admission in the episode also provided both laughs and good drama. Despite the clients guilt, I really began to feel for him at the end.
Overall, this was a very strong episode, with a mix of brilliant drama, pollitically incorrect tactics and good humour- a brilliant forty minutes of television.
