This episode continues on from where the last episode ended. Jeffery and Denise are still in the middle of possibly the biggest murder trial in their careers, and to make things more complicated they soon find evidence that Judge Harvey Cooper may have been the one who actually killed his wife and not their client, Scott Little. Meanwhile the opposing council try to shop Jeffery Coho from interviewing more witnesses but luckily the Judge rules that they can continue their investigation leading to Lincoln Myers coming to tell Denise about all of the murder victims other lovers.
Also Ivan is back in town and he soon tells Shirley that he is bored of his new wife Missy and he wants another divorce (his 6th!). Shirley informs him that she is on Missy's side however Ivan manages to get Alan to represent him in court. So after a long battle in court Ivan proposes to Shirley that they should go to dinner and he will drop the whole court battle, she reluctantly agrees but tells him that she will never have him back.
Denny talks it over with Bethany and decides to help her to try and win one of the cases she is working on in return for a date, and Alan tries it on with Shirley (almost getting her to his surprise). The episode ends as usual with Denny and Alan on the balcony talking about how they are both going to try and fight for Shirley.
