Right now we're in the 4th season. The ratings are holding steady. I don't think we'll get too many, David Kelly shows rarely do. I'll predict 5, POSSIBLY 6.

The show's ratings have been going up, actually. It was on the Neilsen top 20 a couple of weeks ago. If they keep that up, ABC won't mind giving it 6-8 seasons.

Yeah but David Kelly shows usually do not last a long time. The Practice was his longest running right? I still think 5-6. Shows in general dont last too long anymore.

Hopefully none, considering the current writing.

I should add that I think 4 may be the last season if Boston Liberal continues to dominate every week.

I'd say one. I'm starting to lose interest in this show.

Considering the fact that The Practice had an eight year run, I think Boston Legal could have a similar run if it continues to do well in the ratings.

As for the writing it's the best it's ever been.

I think the writing is slipping and the ratings aren't exactly GOOD! They are fairly stable but that could change and if ABC finds something better, they may can BL.

The killing and replacing of new characters had gone too far, and the continuance of the politics in the show is becoming tiresome. I gave up on Boston legal 5 Episodes ago, this show has OFFICIALLY jumped the sharks.

I think most shows are getting worse at the moment, the writers seem to have lost their touch. However, Boston Legal, to me, is as good as ever. Though I'm not too happy with the constant cast changes. I'm still hoping that we'll get at least 6 seasons, I'm gonna miss Alan and Denny when it's over...

I have to agree, I'm amazed the writers are all on strike for more money considering how bad the writing has been for most shows this season. If BL does keep going I hope most of the current characters get cleared out real soon; they need to loose clarence, jerry, whitney and mr personality (carl)FAST

They need to loose Whitney and Lorraine fast. They can keep Jerry if they tone him down a little bit, he's getting out of control. I miss the time when he was just HANDS and not hands, plus a thousand other quirks. Carl can stay too but they have to make him something more than a copy of Paul. Katie is perhaps the best character to hit the show in a long time. Finally somebody normal yet entertaining. I think they found a winner here. Looks like Clarence is already on his way out.

I know. I hate to admit it, but they have gone too far with Jerry. I sill love the character, but they should've stopped at the leg-hopping. The side-stepping, and the "brilliant!", and the walking circles in the courtroom, and the "goldfish in a bowl" imitation is all too much.

Yeah, the hands thing was tolerable and even funny. Now it's just getting laughably pathetic.

Personally, I think ABC would be crazy not to run it into next season b/c of the election year!! It's a hell of a conversation piece!! I never realized how many people paid attention to the politics of the show until I got on this forum! I've always noticed the political satire on the show, but I thought everyone already knew that most people in the entertainment bidness were liberals!! And the reason for Alan Shore's politics is the fact that the Republicans, and their agenda, and their whole way of life, just aren't funny!! When you think republican, you think snooty rich a-holes or fuddy-duddy bible beaters!! They are incapable of humor in the style that we democrats are!!
    Sorry!!
