Alan and Denny take a long-needed vacation to a dude ranch, where their womanizing ways aren't appreciated by the locals, but avert disaster thanks to Melvin Palmer.

Meanwhile, with Alan gone, Catherine Piper must turn to Shirley to defend her against attempted murder charges when she blows up her doctor's office for giving her medication which causes a heart attack.

Any time I feel that I should be doing something else while watching a TV show I know I am in trouble. Despite my best efforts I believe this was the worse show of the fifth season of Boston Legal.

I don't usually like to give a blow by blow unless it is the only way to express my dismay or you have to read it to believe it.

Alan and Denny at a Dude Ranch where everyone else their hates them? Denny sneaking into another tent to have sex with another man's wife? Alan getting caught trying to extricate Denny from said tent? Then they both get arrested for Adultery and assisting an Adulterer? Of course then Alan jumps into his oration about Utah and Polygamy which had nothing to do with what they were being tried for which was Adultery. Luckily Melvin Palmer, Alan's nemesis on a number of occasions talks some sense into the court. That was the best part of this whole storyline.

Now on to Catherine. Shirley defends Catherine in Alan's absence. Much to Catherine's indignation she doesn't think Shirley is doing a very good job. In the end you can guess how they got her off. If you remember the character the reason should be easy.

Is it my imagination or are they playing top this on the last season of Boston Legal. I get the feeling things are just going to get crazier and crazier until it all explodes.

By the way, I didn't hate this episode, it just wasn't my favorite. I still enjoy the characters and even though they get carried away it is fun to see it happen. Therefore the gracious 8. Thanks for reading...moreless

Boston Legal's "Happy Trails" episode was brilliantly written. Thank you, David Kelly. I cannot think of a show on TV today, always touching so poignantly on our society's values (or lack there of) and social issues. The sheep scene was hysterical, as was the arrest of Alan & Denny and subsequent court scenes in Utah. Funny, funny stuff. And to cap it off, Denny lunging at Tara in her sheep costume. I can't help but chuckle again, as I write this review. For those viewers who TiVo'd tonight's episode, go watch it now. Those of you who don't get the chance to see the show, your loss.moreless
