  • Wonderfully written episode

I thought this episode was brilliantly written, revealing another layer of Alan Shore's troubled personality. The beginning did make me laugh, however. Alan pays a group of men to beat up a guy that hit him. The resulting bar fracas had me in stitches! Nevertheless, the storyline was even better as it developed- Alan and Tara's relationship being tested, whilst Alan almost getting into a fight with Brad, up to his closing which was so eloquent and strangely moving. The reconcilliation was also very touching between Alan and Tara.

Denny and Shirley's case was very funny. Denny's manipulation of Judge Brown made me laugh- the storyling was well written and acted. It also marks the start of his "mad cow", which becomes a long running joke in future episodes.

The balcony scene at the end was also quite touching. I love the troubled aspects of both characters, and there strong if silent (at this point) friendship.

Overall, a great episode, nicely written and wonderfully well acted.

Boston Legal is shaping up into a fine show. The acting is top notch and the stories are very complelling, David E. Kelley manages to keep the same humour from Ally McBeal into this show. With the first series almost over i can only wonder how much better it will get. Thsi episode told the story of how Alan got involved in a bar fight or rather how he payed some men to beat up another man who made how look like an idiot infront of Tara. it was quiet sad when Alan gave his closing about how he can not stand up fro himself. Meanwhile Denny and Shirley are on a case about Mad Cow disease and Denny begins to wonder if his brain plack is acutally Mad Cow diease, Shirley continues to make advances at Denny who seems to be drawn to her. A very goos episode in total.

i really enjoyed this epiode when alan was handing everyone money that was so good and when he was reapiting that old guy when he as saying cran something and shmit tha was cool and the mad cow case he thinks he has mad cow diese its cool how at the end of episode they were smoking talking like they do most episodes
  • The best part of Boston Legal is the humor. Here is an episode where the humor is in small supply. It's attempt here at being serious are o.k., but it makes the viewer feel like a punch line is coming. Unfortuneately, it never comes.

Alan Shore is funny. He is rude and crude and unapologetic. At least he is that way most of the time. This is one of those rare opportunities to see the other side of the man. Too bad the soft and gooey side of him is not that interesting.

The cases here are ridiculous. It is the kind of crazy courtroom stuff that David E. Kelley is famous for doing. This one feels tired. There is a read meat case and a bar room brawl. Whoopee. The episodes best moments are from Shatner and Betty White. All the rest of young wannabe's seem to be wondering around looking for something to do. A decent episode if you are a fan of the series. If you are not, this one will not win you over.
