  • This was the worst episode ever!

A man in love with a cow!!!! What were the crazy writers thinking? The only part of this episode that was good was Denny shooting the guy in the knees for raping and killing a little girl. Alan afraid of clowns was just plain stupid. More shows like this and I will stop watching.

This was the first episode I ever saw of Boston Legal, and my god did I fall in love with this show. And it's hardly surprising, as this is easily one of the strongest episodes ever written in the Series.

The case with the cow had me in stitches, I never saw it coming! Denise's defense of it was also brilliantly handled, making it very watchable. There were so many cleverly crafted lines.

Denny's case was even better- the first scene I ever saw was Denny shooting his client's kneecaps! How very entertaining that was! We also learn Alan's afraid of clowns, revealing a deeper aspect to his character. I loved the scene with him and Alan in the prison cell- the two really supported each other in this episode. Denny's performance on Larry King was also amazing. I especially loved the balcony scene at the end- "is it fun being you" was really well delivered dialogue.

Overall, one of my all time favourites, of both entertaining and sentimental value.

I liked this episode very much! To tell you the truth this episode and "Finding Nimmo", were the best episodes these season so far. It was interesting to watch Denise and Shirley struggling whit the cow case, not to mention when the guy said that his wife was like a cow:)). It was to die for the sens with Garrett this episode: when Denny said he would wipe his shoes for a murder case and then when the judge told Garrett to hop his way out was fun to watch. Something i never expected to see was Alan froze in the court room, but i guess even he had to have a week point, just never expected it to be clowns. And in a way it was nice to see Brad and Alan getting along mostly if you remember how they started in the first episodes, i think they finally learn to get along with each other.

This episode was really good. Denny gets stuck with a case defending a child rapist and murderer. Denny refueses to defend the client but the judge orders him to take the case. Anyway Denny ends up shooting the murderer and almost has to go to jail. Meanwhile Alan and Brad get a case involving a clown. During the case Alan begins to relive his fears of clowns which stem from his childhood. Luckily Alan is persuaded to get over the fear by Brad. And finally Denise gets a case involving a man who has had a sexual relationship with a cow. The only problem is that the man is an old friend of Shirley. Very good episode, really enjoyed it.
  • This is the epitome of this show. Strange cases like the Cow Case, strange Lawyers like Alan with his clown fear, and strange practices like shooting out the knee-caps of your client.

This show is most definately the most unexpected comedy on TV, I don't think anyone knew Denny was going to shoot him and I really don't think anyone could have expected the Cow Case to have come along.

The Clown fear thing was a little strange, I think James Spader is great, he does the best speeches I've ever heard on TV, but when he was doing the afraid thing I was a little confused, I never really like it when he does that stooped forward thing when he's trying to be sensetive or exposed. But thats just me.

I am happy that they had this episode for Denny it got him to open up a lot more, he really needed to do something. Shooting someone in the kneecaps was just what the doctor ordered. And him on Larry King was classic.

A thing I didn't like about this episode is the judges I'm tired of them they need to get new ones The Nansy-Pansy guy is too much of a character and having him every week would be too much. Surely they sould afford a few new actors just to sit at the desk and get mad at Denny and Alan once in a while.

On a completely unrelated topic, I wonder if Lake Bell will ever come back for a guest spot as a lawyer they go against. They obviously left that story open when she left. But now with her own show it doesn't seem likely.

A terrific hour that makes up for a somewhat lackluster run the last couple of weeks and more light-hearted than last week's ep. The scene of Alan hiring a new assistant was perfect but that the assistant has a backbone makes it even better and I look forward to her interaction with Alan.

It was quite shocking to see Alan utterly frozen by this clown. I guess they wanted to do something to take the edge off the global warming thing but what at first seemed silly instead turned into a nice showcase for explaining how Alan's the way he is. It was also nice to see him and Brad actually seeming to bond a bit over the experience. I also think Kelly might actually be poking fun at himself with the line over how the clown's show "got preachy and self-important."

Denise's plot was rather unique and she did a good job of it even when you could see her wishing she'd never submitted a resume to Crane, Poole & Schmidt. Also nice to see that judge back.

And then the murder plot where Denny finally meets a judge just as self-important and bombastic as he is, which was refreshing. The scene of Garrett sent hopping out was fun to watch. Then we got the scene of Denny shooting the man which had me howling when I first saw it.

While it was played more for laughs with Denny getting off for the crime, it also showed a more serious side when he tells Alan he's not going to waste any of his time left defending a child murderer which shows once more than under that odd ultra-right mind is a true human being.

So a good ep that mixed in true laughs among serious character study, which is what the show should try sticking to more.
