An upcoming make-out party has Cory and Shawn excited. Cory can't wait; but when Eric starts telling him all the things that could go wrong, Cory begins to worry about choking. Shawn tries to convince Cory that everything will be fine but that doesn't calm him down. When Topanga and Cory go into the "make-out closet", she can tell that he is very nervous. Instead of kissing, Topanga and Cory just talk. The moment they are about to kiss, their time is up and the closet door opens.
The next day, everyone at school seems to know that Cory didn't kiss Topanga. All the kids give him a hard time, which has Cory vowing never to date again. Cory talks about it with his parents, and they find out that Eric was the cause of Cory's nervousness. They tell Eric that he can't go on any more dates until Cory feels like dating again.
Eric tells Cory that all he needs is a no-pressure date and he'll feel more comfortable. He suggests a "safe" place where everyone just drinks coffee and listens to poetry. Cory goes with Topanga, and they end up making out anyway, when everyone else starts to during the poetry readings.
The next day things are back to normal for Cory. He realizes that despite his brother's comments, there was really nothing to worry about.
