With his college graduation less than four months away, Alan and Amy agree to let Eric work at their wilderness store to gain some real-world working experience. Surprisingly, Eric does great at the store and is really comfortable dealing with customers. In an attempt to get Eric to continue working there, Alan informs his family that he is changing the store's name to Matthews & Son Wilderness.
Although he claims that he is just proud of his son for doing well, Amy accuses Alan of not having any faith in his own son to pursue whatever it is that he wants to do. Alan then reveals that he is just worried about Eric being confused like Jack and Rachel are, who are also graduating soon. Amy explains that they are confused because they have choices of which path to take in their lives, but if Eric stays at the store, it would be robbing him of making such choices on his own.
One night at the store, Alan asks Eric what he wants to do with his life. Eric tells him that he is unsure at this point, but they both reminisce on past dreams of being a weatherman. When Jack and Rachel show up to invite Eric out with them, Eric says he has to stay to help his father with an upcoming ski equipment sale. However, Alan insists that Eric go with his friends, so the three walk out the door discussing possible career choices.
In the meantime, Topanga completes a quiz in Couples Magazine to see how long she, Cory, Shawn, and Angela are expected to live. When the quiz results say that Cory should already be dead, he panics and visits a doctor. Topanga worries about Cory taking the quiz too seriously, but Angela and Shawn assure her that he will be fine. When Cory comes back from the doctor, the only thing that he has is a slight case of hypochondria. Cory apologizes to Topanga for overreacting and tells her that he just wants to know that she'll always be there to take care of him.
