Episode Recap

A girl has taken to playing her guitar outside the Matthew's new store. She's a little too perky, and Alan notices that she's scaring away the customers. He asks Eric to politely get rid of her; but when Eric sees how pretty she is, he can't go through with it. "I mean, don't you know me at all?" he asks. Realizing he should have known better, Alan gives Eric money to take the girl to lunch and ask her to go elsewhere.

The girl, Corinna, tells Eric that her Uncle, who owns a record company, would give her a deal if she was edgier, but she's just too cheerful. Corinna has also taken a liking to Eric. Eric thinks she's cute at first but eventually grows tired of her perkiness. He tells Corinna he doesn't want to see her anymore. Upset, she strums her first minor chord, surprising Eric. Overcome with a new emotion, Corinna composes a song about how Eric is a jerk.

Later, Eric is working at the store when Cory and Shawn come in with a CD Corinna's uncle helped her put out. "Shallow Boy" is then played on the radio. Corinna's new, edgy sound is a hit.

At home, Eric endures Morgan's infatuation with the CD as she belts out "Maladjusted Woman-Hating Loser-Freak". Alan comes in and tells Eric that Corinna wants to meet him for lunch. "She probably wants to apologize," he says, relieved.

At lunch, Eric notices that Corinna is taking down notes of what he says. Realizing that she needs him for material, he takes advantage of the situation by rekindling her interest in dandelions.

Meanwhile, Topanga is baby-sitting, so Shawn tells Cory to go over and visit her while she's on the job. Topanga is glad to see him at first, but begins to get annoyed when Cory makes friends with the kid and lets him stay up to watch television.

The next day at school Topanga is angry at Cory for being a bad future paren. Confused, Cory starts reading up on parenting. Amy tells him this is unnecessary; you mostly learn from experience.

Topanga comes over while Cory is baby-sitting Morgan and witnesses him reading to her and sending her to bed. She brings him tacos as a peace offering, and tells him she realizes that he's right about them being young and not having kids for awhile. By the time they do, he'll probably be a good father.
