With everyone around her talking about how fit they are, Topanga worries that she has gotten fat. Eric also thinks that he may have put on a little weight, because he has to unbutton his pants to sit down. Topanga and Eric decide to go on a diet to help each other fight off cravings. They decide to keep it a secret because they think it is embarrassing. When Topanga is acting a little irritable and doesn't want his waffles in the morning, Cory thinks something is wrong. He talks about her recent behavior with Shawn, who suggests that Topanga is showing almost all the signs of pregnancy, but it is too early to tell. Cory doesn't want to confront Topanga about it, so he investigates around campus, and what he hears only seems to confirm his suspicions.
When he realizes that Topanga may very well be pregnant, Cory goes to his parents to tell them. Cory tells them how frightening the idea of being a father is to him, and Alan and Amy are none too thrilled at first. His parents then realize how they went through the same situation when they were his age, and they tell him how wonderful the experience is. Cory accepts that he will soon be a father, and begins to get a little excited. He decides to throw Topanga a surprise baby shower.
Topanga notices that she has been getting a lot of compliments lately and credits them to her weight loss. Angela spills the beans and tells her that everyone thinks she is pregnant. Topanga then walks in to the Pennbrook lounge only to find a crowd of people there to congratulate her. Topanga is given several great gifts, and is even presented with a check for $75,000 from Cory's grandmother Nana Boo Boo, which makes telling everyone the truth even more difficult. However, she gathers the courage to tell everyone that she isn't pregnant, but she thought she was gaining weight so she decided to go on a diet. Mr. Feeny explains that in today's society there is way too much pressure on everyone to be perfect, but Topanga is perfect just the way she is.
