Brainiac: History Abuse

Show Summary

Following on from the success of Brainiac: Science Abuse, the Brainiacs are now tackling History in their own inimitable style. And just as Brainiac: Science Abuse answered the scientific questions you didn’t discover in the classroom, Brainiac: History Abuse deliver everything you wanted to know about history but the teacher was too afraid to tell you! Swapping test tubes for a time machine Charlotte Hudson presents Brainiac: History Abuse with an able team of Brainiacs to bring the history books to life. Ernest Clough – History Buff – is also on hand with amazing historical facts. The Brainiacs will delve deep into the past to find out everything about the most evil tortures, weaponry and punishments through to ancient cures and beauty treatments. Never ones to accept the written word, the team will find out for themselves if Churchill was right to extol the virtues of Pykrete by subjecting the substance to their own rigorous tests and they ask if Cleopatra was really onto something when she said ass’s milk was good for your skin as three bathing beauties try baths of ass’s milk, cow’s milk and dog’s milk. Each week viewers will get a lesson in 'How to be a Domestic Goddess' – medieval style! Learn how to delight friends and family with scrumptious recipes from times past. Who could have known how delicious some freshly dug up garden worms could be? Testing out inventions of yore, the Brainiacs find out how we might use various items today. Is the battering ram really defunct or could there be some modern situations where it would be helpful to have one around? And the suit of armour – how would modern man cope with everyday activities in this attire? And, finally, yes – the Brainiacs will still be blowing up caravans but it’s not in the name of science this time, it’s in the name of history.moreless

  • Good, but not half as good as proper Brainiac. Why not make some more?

It was interesting, it was informative, but you really can't beat a bit of Brainiac: Science Abuse. It gave funny information about: catapults, Queen Victoria, Henry VIII, battering rams, wars and other famous people from Britain. They should definitely make at least 10 more Brainiac: History Abuse, you never hear it mentioned anyomre. They used to show twice a month on Sky One; but your lucky if you see once a year! They should give tapes of the episodes to all schools in the world and all the History teachers in the world. It should be put into into History's curriculum, and there should be exams on it, more people would pass the SATS!moreless
  • Essentially a poor man's version of the history channel.

Brainiac: History Abuse is an originial British show that claims to be "historial." In reality, the show is the anti-thesis of history by making wild generalizations, not properly researching different sources, and by submitting to popular legends and misconceptions. This show at best, is an incorrect retelling of history, and at worst a elementary level history class that appeals to myths and superstitions.

this show is somewhere in between. u got the presntors which are annoying at times. you got the experiments which are pathetic. the only got part is the music. this show isnt bad but isnt good at the same time. i think this is a good show to watch at times and sometimes its not very good.
