  • Walt and Jesse try to figure out what to do with the dead bodies

    9.0
    "Superb"
I'm pretty sure the final scene of the episode can sum up the direction the show will end up going in; the image of that blood crashing down from upstairs, spraying itself throughout the hallway and painting the walls and floors red with the blood of Emilio, Jesse's old partner, is enough to make you realize how in over his head Walter White is.

For the second episode in a row, we start off in the present and jump back into the past, and for the second time in a row, it doesn't detract from the episode. Instead, it flows very well, and when it jumps back, we have almost an hour of Walt and Jesse attempting to figure out what in the world to do with the bodies. Things get even more complicated when it turns out that Krazy-8, the kingpin of that little group, is actually alive. The scene where Walt drives up the road to Jesse's house and finds Krazy-8 wandering around aimlessly, coughing himself to death and looking like he's been burnt, was absolutely hilarious... in a dark way, of course.

We also have Walt's wife already growing suspicious of him. Most shows would wait awhile to show the wife growing suspicious, and even then, the wife would hold onto her suspicions for much longer than she should. However, it's a different story with Breaking Bad.. in seven episodes, they need to establish a story, and they do a superb job here. It also gives us a chance to see Walt doing what he ends up doing best: lying. His wife confronts him about Jesse and he makes up a lie that he buys weed from him.. that's a lie, of course, but it is (as Walt says), "better than the alternative."

For me, the best part of the episode was watching as Walt tries to figure out what to do with the bodies. The dead body? He decides to literally dissolve it in acid. Pretty dark, but Breaking Bad is the type of show that can pull it off and have you still enjoying the guy who's doing it. As for the guy who's living? It's up to Walt to do the killing, but luckily, he still has some ounce of morality left and he decides not to kill him yet. Especially since he's living, talking and breathing. I must say, the scene where he's shoving the items across the floor to Krazy-8 was perfectly done.

A great follow-up to a great pilot.. in fact, I'm hard-pressed to say that these first seven episodes set up the show better than any other show I've seen. Other shows somewhat set us up, but this season feels almost like one big episode. It's amazing.
  • The pilot looked promising but this episode makes me wanna stop watching.

Nothing happens in this episode, well other than destroying a bathtub. This episode wasn't interesting, the plot barely moved and it lacked suspense. I'm thinking of dumping this show as I had expected better for the next episode. And wtf...who wants to see an old man's butt :S. They censor breasts but an old man walking around without any underwear on is fine. In my opinion this episode was a waste of time, there is a slight chance I'll watch the next episode, just give it one more chance to become interesting, or else I won't bother watching anymore. One more episode...maybe.

Sure this episode was slow paced, but that managed to suit this episode, considering it was absolutely intriguing throughout the whole thing. It was like a slow burning but it paid off in the very end when we got the most intense and probably a very controversial scene even for AMC.

This episode was also very eventful, and contained dark humor that I found myself laughing at a couple times. You wouldn't think that 2 guys trying to get rid of a dead body or trapping someone in their basement would be funny. But they made if funny in a lot of ways. Like anything Jesse said basically, and when Walt passes the bucket to the guy who's in the basement.

So we did get some unexpected comedy in this episode, and I was honestly excited to watch the next episode after that final scene. Jesse destroys a bathtub, a very gruesome scene, but very well executed, it all tied together in the end.

A great episode, and I'm excited to see what this season has in store for us viewers.
  • This is why you should watch the show. Dark humor, drama at its finest.

This episode was very well done. After an impressive premiere, this episode continues right where we left off and runs. There's so much dark humor in this episode, it was actually quite funny. The dialogue was very well written. And these guys can act (Bryan and Aaron)! The drama picks up when they need to figure out what to do with the bodies, one of which is still alive. This is one of those episodes you can watch over and over again. Just some of the "high" points: Skyler vs. Jesse, the answering machine, Walt smoking, Jesse dragging, the murder/midterm mix-up, Walt shutting up Skyler in the hospital. Walt trying to hold a knife, gun, and hammer, but he ends up going down with a plastic bag! BEST PART: Sliding jugs of water, a plate with a sandwich, and a pail. Then you see the toilet paper and hand sanitizer - PRICELESS. Brilliant. Next we see Krazy-8 taking off the crust... I love it. Jesse trying the bin out in the hardware store was hilarious too. The expression on Walt's face when Jesse tells him that he put the body in the tub was great too. That leads us to one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen on television. But, although there was a shocking ending, this episode was done so well, I was completely hooked by the end of this episode. People may argue it's a little slow, but it really isn't when you take time to appreciate the cinematography and scenery as well. 10/10.

Ok I absolutely love this episode just because it doesn't need the thrill of gunshots and phosphate explosions to propel its story. This is the consequences of the actions after the adrenaline has worn off. With two dead bodies Walt thinks of a visionary idea to dissolve them with acid but what this episode lacks in action it makes up for in character driven storylines, drama, and Breaking Bad's trademark dark comedy. Even though it is sort of disgusting to see blood and guts fall through your ceiling and making you lose your lunch ultimately this is a very good variety episode to show the diverse talents of Vince Gilligan's story telling skills.

Walter and Jesse try to dispose of the two bodies in the RV, which becomes increasingly complicated when Krazy-8 wakes up. They eventually imprison him in Jesse's basement. Meanwhile, Skyler grows suspicious of Walter's recent behavior and discovers that their baby is a girl. I can't wait to watch more of this show its so good now I can see why Bryan Cranston has won a Emmy for his performance in the show its superb. I always liked him when he was the dad (Hal) in Malcolm in the middle I'm so happy to see him becoming so succesful and starring in this awesome show. Wonder whats going to happen next to Walter I'm eginning to think he's cursed.
  • A new risk for television that actually works...

Lately, television has been doing things that we would normally see only in movies. Nudity, graphic scenes, violence, strong language. Shows like Nip/Tuck, Sons of Anarchy, and South Park have implemented controversial material that has changed the course of television forever. Now, Breaking Bad has gone beyond that.

Last night's episode was full of drama, and I was amazed at the sight I saw during the course of the episode. The way they dealt with the situation from the last episode was priceless. Such dark humor put into disposing of a body.

When those guts fell through the ceiling, I really couldn't believe what I saw. It was absolutely disgusting, and I cannot imagine having to clean that mess up. It gives me the feeling that Jesse isn't going to follow Walter's advice, and I don't think this'll be the last time Walter and Jesse are at odds about how to do things.

I was amazed that Skyler went to the house. That is such a bold move on her part. I knew the secret wouldn't be revealed yet, but the intense moment was one that even surprised me. Then Walter revealed to his wife a fake lie, but one that I still wouldn't want to tell. I mean, if I was in Walter's shoes, even that little fact would get me in trouble. In my family, there is no worse situation in terms of drugs or other horrible activities. If I was involved with them, I'd be disowned no matter what drug. But the fact his wife was still able to keep her head amazed me.

I can't wait for the next episode! It is so hard waiting to watch the next one. But I am not going to let a television show prevent me from doing my schoolwork or my job. I have to keep on task. But I know I'll see the next episode soon.
