A Breaking Bad Community
AMC (ended 2013)

I was (mostly) impressed with the tv.com editor's top 10 picks, and curious about the overall most acclaimed shows. Holiday joblessness and genuine curiosity led me to create a tv.com master top 10 of all the top 10 editor's lists by awarding each ranked show points (based on position, not weighted, simply 10 points for first position in each list, 9 for for second and so on). These were the results:

1. Breaking Bad
2. The Americans
3. Game of Thrones
4. Orange is the New Black
5. American Horror Story: Coven
6.
TIE: Justified/Mad Men
8. The Good Wife
9. Enlightened
10. Rectify

Notes
-It was almost a tie between The Americans (50 points) and Game of Thrones (49 points).
-Orphan Black is right under the list, 1 point below #10.
-After that Veep, Hannibal (that low!!?), Parks and Recreation follow.
-I know, terrible title!

In My Opinion
-Masters of Sex and Hannibal should definitely be on this list, The Good wife should be higher and The Americans should not be that high. Although I love it, and it was one of my favourites of the year too, I'm side-eyeing AHS: Coven's position as well.
- However, I mostly agree. I am very happy to see the Justified, Rectify and OITNB love.) tv.com has some good taste.
- My personal best shows of the year (in this order) included The Good Wife, Masters of Sex, Orange is the New Black, Hannibal, Justified, Breaking Bad and The Mindy Project (yes, The Mindy Project). Game of Thrones too, simply for the final scene of The Rains of Castamere.
- [EDIT] I also averaged the score of each show by dividing its points by the number of mentions in the article. The order is switched up in this interesting way:
Breaking Bad (8.6), The Good Wife (8.3), Enlightened (7.3), Justified (7.2), The Americans (7.1), AHS: Coven (6.6), Hannibal (6.5), Rectify (6.3), GoT (6.1), Orphan Black (6). I think this is a bit ore to my taste, except for the exemption of Orange is the New Black.
-Does anyone strongly agree/disagree with the list?

I think only three of those made my list: Game of Thrones, The Americans and Orange is the New Black. I can understand why Black Mirror and The Wrong Mans didn't make the list (they're British) but I think Masters of Sex should certainly be up there. I'm still behind on Breaking Bad, American Horror Story and Justified, I haven't seen Rectify or Enlightened and I really don't care for Mad Men. I am happy to see The Good Wife up there though, I'm sure it would have made my list if I was up to date with that one too! I've only just (yesterday) watched Veep and it's the only other sitcom that had a chance of making my list - if I'd seen it in time. Other than those I think The Walking Dead, Orphan Black and Banshee all had a strong case for a position on the list but hey, not everyone has as good a taste in TV as me ;)

lol!
I agree especially on Masters of sex. Same with Mad Men; it has never really been for me.

Thanks or doing the job! I was searching for new shows, and mostly oriented myself at Tim Surette, who has the same opinion as I (most of the time).
But I can´t understand, why so many people like GoT...

Yes Tim's was one of the lists I agreed with more. People (myself included) like Game of Thrones, I suppose because each episode is never boring and it is quite stunning visually to watch. However, I question whether the adapatation and some of the acting (lol Kit Harrington!) is really as great as many say it is.

A lot of people like fantasy series, but what don't you like about GOT.

I really like fantasy and even Sci-Fi (not syfy ;) ), did also roleplay when I was younger, like D&D. But I started watching GoT directly when it began, liked it, but just few episodes in, the violence and sexual scenes are just too much. I think it shouldn´t be in it. Sometimes I like to see violence, like in Dexter. Well, honestly, I don´t know why it disgusts me here so much... can´t tell

Well, I can see what you mean. I'm a big fan of the books and the series, but there are some episodes that overdo it. The books are pretty graphic too, but less frequent.

Hmm. I've always had a problem with the unneccesarily gratuitous male gaze nudity but never really the violence. The only thing I'll say that ever really shocked or came close to upsetting me was the image of dead Ros.

Great list! But just because I'm nit-picking statistician, VEEP should be 11th (it had 10 shows in front of it, how can it be in the top 10?). Sorry, pet peeve :P

Yes I knew that; my comedy loving heart just wanted it up on the list. And I didn't want a 9 numbered list, but upon further consideration, I think I'll downgrade it.

Thanks for ranking the rankings, it's always interesting to get an overall perspective on lists like this.

I only watched Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Orange Is The New Black, and American Horror Story: Coven from this list, and I would have placed them all in my top ten. I watched Rectify too, but I found it unmemorable, personally. I plan to watch Justified and The Good Wife, but I'll doubt I'll start watching the others.

I agree with almost everything here.
YES. Watch the good wife.

For some reason I can never get into Justified, it seems like a great show but there's something that throws me off. I'm making my New Year of TV's resolution to watch the first season of Justified.

I did not really like the 1st season of Justified. Unlike most fans, I did not always sang the praises of Walton Goggins. I mean he is good but not that good.

It was in season 2 and the appearance of Margo Martindale that really got me hooked. Season 3 had a fantastic Neal Mcdonough. Most people loved season 4 but I like season 2 and 3 better. Season 4 had some good episodes but it is not the most consistent compare to 2 and 3.

Justified season 4 in my opinion would not be so high on the list at no.6

It was the exact same thing with m; I literally just watched it in the last week of 2013. I had always thought of it as that acclaimed series which the fans always complained was underrated, but not really something I would invest my time to watch. But then I did. And it is awesome. The dialogue is poetry.

The dialogue was pretty good, so was the acting. I'm planning on watching it this weekend.
